This huge, action-filled diorama of the famous Raiders of the Lost Ark scene contains thousands of pieces and hundreds of hours of building.

The first time we see Indiana Jones sets the expectation for the entire franchise—action, adventure, and comedy. It’s a great introduction and one of the most memorable openings to a movie ever, solidifying Harrison Ford’s place as an action star in less than five minutes.

Raiders of the Lost Ark in Lego

Caleb Watson showed off this huge Raiders of the Lost Ark diorama he built–complete with skeletons, a golden idol, a massive boulder, and a plane–at BrickCon in Seattle. It has thousands of pieces. It uses six motors that animate the booby traps, cycle the rolling boulder into place, and add some motion to the minifigs, as well. The diorama even has Indy’s escape plane with a pilot. This huge build took a lot of work and creativity.

The front is a side-scroller-style take on Indy’s journey from almost being smushed to safety—with the prize. The back of the LEGO Raiders of the Lost Ark diorama shows all of the engineering that went into it. Not only did Watson have to build in all the moving parts, but he also had to construct a frame that could hold all of it.

Watson walks us through the diorama and shows us how it works. You really get a sense of how big it is while they stand next to it and as they walk around the build.

Great Pyramid of Giza

Explore the ancient world like Indy. Take a leap back to the 26th century BC and build one of the Seven Wonders. This cross-sectioned model reveals the main tunnels and chambers within the pyramid. It also includes the system theorized to have been used to move huge stones during its construction. Outside of the pyramid stand two small pyramids, two mortuary temples, Sphinx statues, and an obelisk. You can even take a boat down the Nile.
