From the video description:

Owlcat Games, alongside the launch of the Alpha, presents the new Gameplay Trailer for the upcoming Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy. Become an acolyte of the Inquisition in this grimdark, party-based, story-driven cRPG. Lead investigations, uncover grand conspiracies, master tactical combat, and wage a secret war against heresy.

Warhammer 40,000: Dark Heresy Gameplay Reveal

As you can see from the video above, Dark Heresy is tapping into a similar style of gameplay as Rogue Trader. This time around, your crew is going to be working for an Inquisitor. We got to see various members of the crew, like an Ogryn named Cogg, a Kroot tracker named Ra’akhti, and an Aeldari Corsair named Laarthyr Cairnareth.

Naturally, there are also some good, upstanding members of the Imperium as well. However, the Dark Heresy crew does appear to lean into Xeno options, too. This game will feature a similar combat system from the looks of things, too. It seems turn-based, and you can call your shots and plan out your attacks in a tactical manner. But this game is also introducing a new Investigation System, too.

The system seems interesting for sure, as it adds a layer to the gameplay that wasn’t directly in Rogue Trader. If you’re curious about the new detective-style Investigation system you can read about it here.

Personally, I was pretty pleased with Rogue Trader and I’m willing to give this one the benefit of the doubt. I’m curious to see how this one develops. In the meantime, it might be time for another Rogue Trader playthrough. I missed out on some of the DLC so it might be time to load that up and give it a run!
