Games Workshop has a pair of new Datasheets from the Wardens of Ultramar. Time to see how Captain Titus stacks up!

Captain Titus is getting a new miniatures and some new rules to match. The Wardens of Ultramar are coming soon and we’re getting a preview of what they’ll be brining to the tabletop. My concern is seeing how GW has implemented Captain Titus compared to his video game version. So let’s quit stalling and get to that datasheet.

“Titus himself already has rules for his earlier miniature, when he was gallivanting around the Recidious System as a Lieutenant, and his promotion affords him a suitably upgraded set of weapons and abilities. “

So stat line-wise, he’s honestly not too different from a standard Space Marine Captain. He’s got an extra wound which is nice. He’s also rocking set wargear as well. Granted, he’s got the Master-crafted bolter and chainsword (which DOES have a spicy Anti-Infantry 2+). Those weapons are pretty brutal which seems fitting. Captain Titus also has a FNP 5+ as well.

Captain Titus also comes with two other abilities that set him apart. Press the Attack gives him and the unit he’s leading Sustained Hits 1 which is a nice cherry on top. And finally, he’s got Honour of Ultramar which is a neat nod to the video game. If he would be destroyed in melee, you get a chance to have him recover. On a 2+ you get to fight after the attacking unit has finished attacking. If Captain Titus manages to destroy any models, then he regains D3 wounds and is not destroyed.So basically if you’re facing off against Titus, you’re going to want to drop him at long range or he’s going to keep coming at you!

This unit is a big blob of characters that can attach to another unit. Then you can add Captain Titus to that unit and you’ve basically got a really wonky deathball. In fact, WarCom actually suggests doing that with Bladeguard Veterans, and yeah, I can see why.

Now, you can see the rules and stats above so I won’t cover all those. However, I did want to point out the Strategium Command. This basically allows you to redeploy up to 3 Astartes units after the deployment is done. You can even put units into Strategic Reserves even if you’re capped on that. Why would you want to do this? Mostly to try to setup some advantageous deployments for yourself. Redeploying after you know where the enemies is can be pretty useful!

The 500 Worlds is coming soon. I guess we’ll be seeing how this campaign goes with the new Captain Titus leading the charge!
