There’s still time to snag The Old World RPG before it hits shelves early this year. Check out the Player’s Guide today!
It is wild to me that, technically, from a certain point of view, Cubicle 7’s The Old World RPG isn’t out yet. That is, you can’t find the books on the shelves of your friendly local hand store. Indeed, Cubicle 7’s very own social media will tell you that you can still pre-order a copy of Warhammer: The Old World RPG Player’s Guide. And yet, at the same time, if you pre-order the book, or have already pre-ordered the book – or even just wanted it digitally – you can have it right now.
This is because Cubicle 7 isn’t afraid to release its books on PDF. With every pre-order, you get a PDF copy of that book right away. You can even find The Old World RPG Player’s Guide on Drivethrurpg, right now in digital form. However, despite this fact, the game is technically still out for pre-order, with physical release scheduled for early 2026. And if you want a copy of The Old World RPG on your bookshelf, in all its grim, perilous glory, there’s still time.
Warhammer: The Old World Player’s Guide Coming Early This Year
If you are unfamiliar with the Old World RPG, it’s set in the World of Legend. This is the Old World in the time before the rise of Karl Franz and the unification of the Empire. As these stories take place, the Empire is divided against itself. Claimants to the throne leverage greed and corruption to try and secure power.
While at the edges of the world, Chaos burbles up. Ever seeking to pervert the will of humanity to its pernicious ends. And you play as someone who’s seen just a little too much of the evil that hides in the world to sit back and do nothing. Whether you like it or not.
“The Empire is locked in unending war. Beyond the light of civilisation, its armies clash with furious Beastmen, marauding Orc & Goblin tribes, and accursed sorcerors. Perhaps you thought yourself safe from such horrors, far from the frontlines, hidden behind tall walls and lofty promises. Such lies no longer comfort you.
You have seen the face of true evil — the corruption of Chaos, the dead returned to life, or the blind and grasping greed of the Empire’s own citizens. Worse, that evil has seen you too, and marked you as a witness to be silenced. To survive, you must find your courage, take up arms, and fight back against the ravening hordes. If fate is kind, you will rise to glory and vanquish your foe. If not, the Garden of Morr will have your corpse.”
As for the game itself? It’s a d10 based system that evokes the frenetic fury fostered in its predecessor, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay. Though it is lighter and faster. Take the rules for magic, which have lists of spells, sure, but also rules for casting your own improvised spell.
If you want grim, glorious adventure, you’ll want to check out Warhammer: The Old World RPG.
Look for The Old World Player’s Guide in the next month or so!
