Goatboy here with a Necron Pantheon of Woe list that bring all the Star Gods out to play. If you love C’tan – this one’s for you!

I told you I would write up a new Necron C’tan list.  One of the new detachments from the Necron update is called the Pantheon of Woe. It is a C’tan focused detachment that gives an upgrade to each of the C’tans when you take one.  You pay more points for them but it is designed to push you to take four and see whatever other space-undead you can fit in. It feels just like a Goatboy list that loves big smashy monsters – or big angry shards of dead gods.  Let’s put a list together and see if we can fight enough scoring options to be decent.

Putting the List Together

Let’s start with the three named C’tan and then a Transcendent one.  We’ll see how many points we have left after that.

C’Tan Shard of the Void Dragon – 330pts
Enhancement – Animus Damper

C’Tan Shard of the Nightbringer – 345pts
Enhancement – Quantum Goad

C’Tan Shard of the Deceiver – 325pts
Enhancement – Singularity Matrix

Transcendent C’tan – 330pts
Enhancement – Reletavistic Tether

Total – 1330pts

This doesn’t leave us a ton of room so we need some scoring options to help out.  I wonder if we just went with a Wraith Brick to help hold the center – or at least get in the way in case someone gets close to the C’tans.  Then we can utilize the Wraiths holding things up and the unraveling the C’tans do.  Let’s throw in a unit to help just hold things and be annoying to remove.

Technomancer – 80pts
Canoptek Wraiths X 6 – 220pts

Total – 300pts

Now we have 370 points to fill things out.  I wonder if we look at a unit of Tomb Blades to go do things for us.  They seem pretty cheap right now and we can throw in two to help do stuff in a game.

Tomb Blades X 3 – 75pts
Tomb Blades X 3 – 75pts

Total – 150pts

This is leaving us with 220 points to figure things out.  We could add some stuff to increase the power of the Wraith brick, like a unit of Cryptothralls.  It adds some more beef to it and isn’t a ton of points.  I also wonder if we pull in a Canoptek Reanimator as well, as it is another beefy unit that can hold things back and just help keep the Wraiths alive as well.  Let’s throw those two things in and see where we are at.

Cryptothralls – 60pts
Canoptek Reanimator – 75pts

Total – 135pts

Finally at the end we have 85 points left to burn.  I wonder if we just add in another Tomb Blades unit to ensure we got action monkeys and some speed in the army.  I think that might be the best and easiest thing to add to this list. Let’s get this all listed in one place so we can see it.

Necron C’Tan Quartet Tactics

There you have it – you have four big monsters, some “guards” to keep them in check, and then some bikers to go chase after them if they get out of line.  This list may take some practice, as I think you could really just work with the three main Character options but this at least gives you every big monster to play with that isn’t the Silent King.  I also wonder if going into this direction and using Nekrosar with some Destroyer Cult jerks might do some work.  We’ll just have to wait and see as people get their Nightbringers painted up.
