The Warhammer Team had a massive teaser for the Iron Warriors at the end of the New Year Preview. It’s time to chat about it.

I wanted to wait until today to bring up the Iron Warriors teaser from the New Year Preview that was on Friday. There was a lot to go over and I think this one needed some time to percolate. Plus, I knew the WarCom team would be tossing up much better images of the teaser later. So let’s check those out and chat.

Bare metal with yellow and black hazard stripes can only mean one thing: reinforcements for the brutal Chaos Space Marines of the IVth Legion… but what miniatures do these bits belong to?

So I know the obvious answer to this one is Perturabo, the Primarch of the Iron Warriors. Likely in this Daemon-form. It would make sense as he’s one the eligible Traitor Primarchs that doesn’t have a Daemon Primarch miniature yet.

And yeah…I can certainly see how a few of these bits could be from him. And I’m not saying it’s NOT from him either. That said, I also think we’re looking a few different miniatures here. In other words, not all of these images are from the same miniature. Re-read the text from GW above: “but what miniatures do these bits belong to?”

I’ve got a few theories for the other miniatures.

These vents really remind me of a Daemon Engine like the Maulerfiend. But we already have a really serviceable miniature for that and the Forgefiend. But what if there was another Daemon Engine miniature that was pretty dated at this point and could use an update?

Just tossing that one out there. Plus, you know the Iron Warriors do love their siege breakers. Also look at this image closer:

Big armored claw? And is that another “leg” behind it? Also, those joints look like they could be a good update…Just tossing that out there. Curious, no? Now what about this image:

We’ve got close a close combat arm along with some gooey flesh-bits mixed in. You know what’s been missing and needing a massive update for a long time?

Mutilators!  We got the pair of Obliterators (which honestly, we need a stand alone kit for at some point). And I’ve been wondering how long GW has been holding on to the close combat version of them — the Mutilators.

It seems like they got the size upgrade and scale down with the Obliterators. Now it’s time for that close combat weapon to spawn in!

Now, as far as the rest of the images, again, those could be Perturabo. Or they could also be more “generic” Iron Warrior options. Think units like a Warsmith or Iron Warrior Havocs. That would explain the shoulder pad and the hammer.

I do think the hammer is a bit too generic to be Perturabo however. The hammer from his Forge World miniature is much more blocky and ornate.

Who knows what else GW has been cooking up for the Iron Warriors. I guess we’ll have to wait until that new Eye of Terror 40k supplement comes out in a few months to find out!

What do you think we’re looking at with these images for the Iron Warriors?
