It seems like you can’t keep a time travel locked down. Who would have guess Kang the Conqueror’s rule would leak early?

While waiting for the official errata to come out for Spectrum and the Might Avengers Affiliation, I was checking out the interwebs for more info on Marvel: Crisis Protocol. Well, it didn’t take too long to come across what appears to be a leak of Kang the Conqueror’s card. Or at least the healthy side.

From the looks of things Kang is a hoss. He’s got a defensive stat line of 3/4/4  with 7/?? Stamina. He’s got a medium move with a size of 2 on a 50mm base. We know the base size thanks to the preview images from AMG. That said, he’s clocking in at Threat 6 which seems to make him at least closer to his comicbook threat level. But let’s take a closer look at his attacks and abilities to see how close he really is.

Kang the Conqueror’s Abilities

I wanted to start with the big one that’s going to be a signature ability for him: Neurokinetic Chronal Armor. This ability allows him to be placed with range 1 of his current position at the start of his activation. Again, he’s on a 50mm base, so that’s a nice hop. At the same time you get to remove 1 damage or 1 special condition. I’m pretty sure that means he could remove Stagger thanks to the timing on that ability trigger. Anyhow, he also get an energy the first time he rerolls dice each turn. That’s a lot of things stacked in that one ability.

The other one that I think is going to be important is the Leadership for Cabal. The Kang Dynasty allows for 1 reroll during an attack. On top of that, allies can also reroll skull results if they are holding or contesting an objective. That’s perfect for Kang as this would allow him to get that 1 energy back for rerolls on his turn.

On top of having Flight and Peerless, he’s also got to big spender abilities. Anti-Grav Device cost 3 and it’s a medium throw for terrain size 3 or less within range 3 once per turn. Pretty straight forward there. Temporal Rewind is a straight up funky ability for 4. This is a straight up “attack/defense reroll everything” ability. I want to be very clear with this one and the timing on things. So here’s the sequence for attacks:

You’re triggering the re-roll at the end of the Modify Dice step. Or after Temporal Rewind resolves. Why does this matter? Well, if you’re generating extra dice from crits, you rerolling ALL of that, too. You’re not going to get extra dice from crits again, but it does count as more dice to reroll. Also, because this happens at the END of the step, that means you get to see everyone’s dice results. Then BOTH players reroll all their respective dice.

If your opponent spikes damage or you whiff you can use this to basically trigger a redo. I forget the name of the Team Tactic Card that basically does this, but it’s potent! And Kang has it as a 4 cost power!

I’m not even going to get into his own Team Tactic Cards…

Kang the Conqueror’s Attacks

So now that we’ve covered how weird his power are and how rerolls work let’s talk about his attacks. His basic builder is 30th Century Arsenal which is an energy attack at range 3 for 6 dice. That’s already ahead of most folks — but he is Threat 6 so it should be. If the target is within range 2 he also get a single reroll for the attack, too (again, this gives him an energy once per turn). On a wild, Future Tech also triggers with give the defender one of the follow special conditions: Incinerate, Bleed, Hex, or Slow. That’s pretty nice for a builder attack!

Neuroshock Field is his first spender and it’s another energy attack. This one is an Area attack at range 2 and another 6 dice for 3 energy. However, if you deal any damage to the defenders, you tag them with both Shock and Stun! And finally, The Once and Future Kang is his BIG hitter for 6 energy. It’s a range 3 attack for 9 dice that’s energy based. And if you’re worried about it whiffing, it’s got a built in reroll for any number of dice!

One Last Thing…

So yeah…this could just be a fake. I’ve seen a few in my day. But if this is a fake then AMG might want to consider hiring who ever came up with this one! It would be pretty impressive from a rules/creative standpoint. But please, don’t go making fake cards up.

That said, I kind of hope AMG puts out a transmission on this one. I’d like to see the injured side after all! Kang is a really cool character with a super crazy backstory. But he is a legit threat to the Avengers in the comics. I think it’s going to take (more than) a few games to really master Kang. But once folks do, I think he’s got some real potential on the tabletop.

Kang will be available from AMG on March 6, 2026. The Character Pack for him is currently up for pre-order.

It would be funny if he had one other rule that allowed him and Iron Lad to bypass the normal alter ego rule…
