Goatboy here with a trip down memory lane to the days of MASSIVE Apocaplyse games and the MASSIVE box deals GW had for gamers to get into it!

Man, back in the day the deals you would get with some of the GW boxed sets were amazing.  The Apocalypse game was a method for GW to get rid of a ton of models, create a bigger version of their game, and start the first taste of giant “mega battles” wars on tabletop.  The first version of the game was pretty spectacular.

It was a summer release in 2007, meant to keep the company moving along and get us super fans jonesing for bigger and bigger armies.  I grabbed some of the pics I have found on the internet on 3 different boxed sets from that time.  I know the models don’t exactly match but I want to give a price listing of what this would be if you got to buy this now.

Apocalypse Space Marine Battle Company (2007) $450

We’ll start with the easiest one.  The Space Marine Battle Company was a huge box full of crazy stuff.  You got so many Marines and vehicles.  Do you see how it has 8 Rhino Chassis and one Razorback?  It is a wild box that was huge when it hit the store.  I remember seeing one and just being in awe of someone who spent that much money for so many Marines.  Let’s price it out now to see if it even works.

8 Rhinos = 8 Impulsors = $89 X 8 =$712.00
70 Tactical Marines = 70 Intercessors = $65 X 7 =$455.00
20 Assault Marines = 20 Assault Intercessors = $65.00 X 2 =$130.00
5 Command Squads = 2 Company Heroes Box + 2 Victrix Box = $69 X 2 =$138.00 + $65 X 2 =$130.00 = $268.00
2 Devastator Boxes = 1 Hellbasters Box = $65.00
1 Generic Space Marine Hero = $45.00

Today’s Total = $1675.00

This would be an insane box and most likely would have to be set up completely different.  I could see them making some kind of Battle Company box again but utilizing more of their snap together kits to create a really weird and awesome box of 40k Nonsense.  I could also see it just going crazy one one offs of different units and create a true Primaris Battle Company boxed set.

Apocalypse Emperor’s Fist Tank Company (2007) $275

The Emperor’s Fist Tank Company is another easy one that just says – hey do you want 10 Leman Russ Battle Tanks at a huge discount?  I remember all the Guard players buying this one and just groaning at the amount of tanks I had to deal with in my games.  This is probably why you will see some random FB Market place show up with a ton of the old Leman Russ tanks.

This one is pretty easy.

10 Leman Russ Battle Tanks = $70 X 10 =$700.00

Today’s Total = $700

This is insane to think about the cost of this now.  Of course you couldn’t field all of these guys but having a box of 10 could easily set you up for a ton of random Tank armies.  It would also make you not have as many friends.

Apocalypse Eldar Windrider Host (2007) $175

Finally we have the old Wind Rider host army box.  It took a bit to find a decent picture of this box but check out the savings.  Everywhere I could see some kind of cost online it looked like this was around $150 – 175.00.   Let’s break this one down again to see the deal this would have been.

3 Boxes of Windriders at $60.00 each is $180.00.
1 Exarch on Bike isn’t available so will do a Farseer on bike at $43.50
2 Vypers are $39.00 each is $78.00

Today’s Total = $30150

The total is $301.50 which feels like the lowest “value” out of the lot.  This is still a crazy deal just to fill out a Windrider host and be ready for whatever future nonsense comes in 11th edition.

~Anyone think GW should bring back Apocalypse for 11th Edition?
