Magpie Games has a ‘Buy One, Get One’ sale running through the end of the month that gives you a chance to try many new games.
Take a new RPG (or two, or more) for a spin this year, thanks to Magpie Games’ Buy One, Get One free sale, It’s running through January 31st. This is the perfect chance to expand your catalogue with the RPGs you have been thirsting over. And if 2026 is any indication, you’re only going to want a bit more escapism in your arsenal.
Especially since Magpie Games has so many fun titles that you can run with. Just as a quick overview, Magpie is the publisher for Urban Shadows, Root, and Avatar: Legends, just to name a few of the ones I’m most excited about. But they have a ton of stuff under their umbrella.
Magpie’s BOGO Sale – Through February 1st
If you’re wondering what might be in Magpie’s umbrella, here’s a taste. They are perhaps at this point best known for Avatar: Legends. This is the RPG set in the world of Avatar: The Last Airbender. And it’s a fan’s dream come true. You can play in all the eras of Avatar. This includes the Kyoshi era, when there were warlords roaming around doing all sorts of things, as well as the later eras.
But you might also know them from MASKS: A New Generation, the teen superhero RPG. If you loved Teen Titans and other superhero titles that are in that vein of young superheroes with big shoes to fill, while also having all the normal teen angst, this RPG lets you do exactly that. Like Avatar: Legends, it’s a Powered-by-the-Apocalypse hack that leans very heavily into its genre with custom mechanics.
Or maybe you know them from the Root Roleplaying Game, which is the RPG of woodland critters going through it as they grapple with revolution, oppression, and the fact that no matter who is warring, it’s always the people underfoot that suffer. Unless someone steps up to do something.
And then there’s Urban Shadows, which is like if PbtA took on elements of the World of Darkness. It’s your standard “there’s a secret world of magic in the shadows of modern life and they all vie for power” but you get to build what that looks like for you.
Whatever the title sounds most appealing to you, it bears mentioning that it’s not just the core books. This is your chance to pick up expansions, supplements, adventures, etc. You can even find dice packs and plushies listed in the sale.
Magpie Games has made a bunch of cool stuff over the years, and you can start your year off by exploring some of it.
