Atomic Mass Games is getting a new Army Box later this year for Star Wars: Legion. The Empire Strikes Back with the Blizzard Force!
There’s a new Special Edition Army box on the way for Star Wars: Legion. I hope you’re ready to attack Echo Base because Lord Vader is on the hunt with this boxed set!
The Blizzard Force was announced by Atomic Mass Games and it’s loaded with troopers and an alternate sculpt of Darth Vader. There’s also a pair of Probe Droids, too! I can see what this box is supposed to represent, but I’d would have liked to see less Stormtroopers and maybe some other snow-based units for the theme.
What’s In The Blizzard Force Box?
On top of that I’m also a little confused about the product description vs the listed contents on the box. Here’s the image for the back of the box:
Contents
- Alternate Darth Vader Sculpt
- 2 Imperial Probe Droids
- 11x Stormtroopers
- 22x Snowtroopers
- 29 cards
- 1 Token sheet
- 3 Insert Sheets
What’s not mentioned on the box is what IS mentioned in the current product description:
“It also includes all the dice, templates, tools, and tokens a player needs to begin playing their first games of Star WarsTM: Legion.”
I don’t know if that was a copy+paste from the Starter Boxes description. Maybe those were intended to also be included in this box, too. But I’m also not sure about that either. Here’s the image from the Galactic Empire Starter Set.
Notice that the contents listed for the Galactic Empire Starter set include the image of the tools and it’s all listed on the back. This Blizzard Force box does not have the same image or text. If the dice/templates/tokens were supposed to be there, then they should be listed on the contents section. The new Blizzard Force does comes with Tokens, three inserts, and the cards you need for these units. But I’m not seeing anything about dice or tools.
Blizzard Force Is A Good Deal, Right?
It’s also worth noting that the price on this Army box is $40 more than the Empire Starter Set. That said, the Blizzard Force is still going to be a better deal overall than buying those units individually. While we don’t have the price of the reboxed Snowtroopers (which are clearly getting a future reboxing) we do know that a Box of Stormtroopers is $54.99 and a pair of Probe Droids are $34.99. If the new Snowtroopers box is priced to match the Stormtroopers then two units of them would cost $109.98. Toss in a limited edition Vader and you’ve blown by that box price of $139.99 by a wide margin.
Again, while this box isn’t perfect it’s supposed to be a 600-point Recon-level army. It’s maybe not the best mix of units/content overall. It’s still a good deal vs parting these units out individually. Personally, again I would have liked to see some other units besides Stormtroopers. However if you’re looking for a new Empire Army there are worse ways to get this army together.
Blizzard Force Pre-Orders
The Blizzard Force box is currently up for pre-order. It has a slated release date of April 3, 2026.
Star Wars: Legion – Blizzard Force Special Edition Army Box $139.99
Sending probe droids across the galaxy, the Galactic Empire located the Rebel Alliance stronghold on planet Hoth, a site called Echo Base. Outside of the armor and weaponry Echo Base was equipped with, Hoth’s extreme weather granted the rebels another level of defense.
Deploying troops that were trained and outfitted for combat effectiveness in extreme cold, the Galactic Empire’s army, led by Darth Vader, would launch an assault to destroy Echo Base.
This Blizzard Force Special Edition Starter Set contains a 600-point Recon-level army, including a Special Edition alternate sculpt of Darth Vader. It also includes all the dice, templates, tools, and tokens a player needs to begin playing their first games of Star WarsTM: Legion.
