Bastion and Omega Sentinel are really going to round out the Sentinels Affiliation in Marvel: Crisis Protocol. Time to break them down!

We already took a closer look at Nimrod who’s the other piece from this Character Pack. And as I’ve already said, I’m thinking that both Bastion and Nimrod will be auto-includes for any Sentinel lists I make in the future. Today I want to take a close look at Bastion and Omega Sentinel both however. The teasers we saw showed off how good they are but now I wanted to dig deeper as to why I think thy are both excellent additions to MCP. You can view all three sets of their character cards directly from AMG right HERE.

Bastion

What makes Bastion so good? Well, beyond his obvious synergy with Nimrod, he’s just an all around good option. His leadership will also help out with denying the enemy power to fuel their attacks back. Operation Zero Tolerance is just a flat out 1 power reduction to gains from damage from attacks. If the target has a higher threat than the attacker then it drops power gain by 2!

Defensively, he’s fairly durable. He’s 4/4/3 with 7/6 stamina. On top of that he’s also got Enhanced Sentinel Cybernetics. This not only gives him a bonus power at the start of the power phase, but it also reduces damage by 1 to a minimum of 1. He’s threat 4 and size 2. Plus he’s got a medium move with Flight so getting around the board shouldn’t be an issue. Plus he’s got Advanced Teleportation Matrix which does cost 2 but places him or an ally with range 2 of their current position.

His Prime Nano-Virus Reanimation Protocols costs 1 but allows for you to snap-back when an enemy Dazes or KO’s a non-Grunt character within range 5. It’s 1 damage AND it applies Root. That’s important because Root is really what amps up this whole play style.

Just as a refresher, Root means that a character must spend 1 power before using an Active/Reactive Superpower. Combine that with the negative energy generation and you can see how it’s going to be extra taxing dealing with the Sentinels lead by Bastion.

Now, on offensive, Bastion is also no slouch! His builder is Disintegration Blast. It’s range 4 for 5 dice and is an energy attack. It also triggers Degeneration on a Wild. That’s something that both this attack and his spender attack share. Basically, this denies the target the ability to heal damage which is pretty mean!

Tolerance is Extinction is a massive Beam 4 for 8 dice that costs 5 power. It’s also an energy attack. What’s crazy is that Hits trigger Degeneration. Wilds cause Suppression (which takes away energy) and Crits trigger Nanotech which applies Root to the target.

Overall, I really do think Bastion is going to be a problem for the opponent to deal with. He’s tough, has good range to stay back and shoot, and his leadership is deceptively punishing. If you’ve got stealth characters they might be a good option to counter him. But I think it’s going to be easy to overcommitting to taking him out and then facing a serious sentinel counter attack.

Omega Sentinel

Karima Shapandar might be the lesser well known character out of this pack but she’s a serious threat, too. As a Threat 4, she’s got a few things going for her that make slotting her in very tempting. For starters, she’s FAST. She’s got a Long Move and also has Charge which makes her ability to get into range 3 for her attacks a mostly non-issue. You can’t really escape her if she’s locked-in on a target.

Defensively, she’s 3/3/3 on both sides with a stamina pool of 7/6 as well. She’s immune to Bleed and Poison and her Adaptive Nano-Shifting Protocols make her super-adaptive if you know what sorts of threats she’s going to be dealing with. Take a second to really look at that power because it’s got a lot of options! And if you’re unsure if you’re choosing the “correct” choice, you can Omega Shift for 2 so you can swap it out.

She’s also got Cyberpathy which makes her fantastic for snatching Secure objectives. Not only does she have a free reroll on those interacts, but she can also get the 1 power spent back afterwards. Omega Sentinel is a fantastic objective grabber in that regard.

For attacks, her Dynamistic Bio-Blast is her builder. It can either be a physical or energy attack at range 3 for 5 dice. And if you get any Wilds, you trigger Suppression, too. Her big spender is Engineered Extermination. This is another range 3 attack for 7 dice that costs 4 power. You once again can choose physical or energy as well. It’s also got a build in short throw on top of the damage, too. Note it’s just Throw and not Throw Away which means you can chuck your target to the most advantageous position for you.

Will Omega Sentinel find a place in the Sentinel Roster? I think she’s very viable, too! She’s got a lot of versatility in her kit that the Sentinel Affiliation can use. She does pair nice with Cassandra Nova’s trap-like Psychic Distraction ability. But really you want to bring her along with Bastion due to the team tactic cards. Speaking of…

Other Team Tactic Cards

Know Thy Enemy is perfect for Bastion if you’re going to run the new Prime Sentinels with him. They should be available around the same time but they really benefit from him and this card make them a mean counter-attack option.

Extinction Event is specific to Omega Sentinel and it’s a pretty big hit at range 5. You might even get it to trigger a few times if you’re lucky and the enemy is packed in densely. And finally, Building The Mother Mold is ideally the “final victory condition” option. You can only use this on Round 6 but it can literally save you the game. If the game has gone on for that long this is a 6 VP swing in your favor. You do have to drop 11 power to get those VPs but again, this could literally win the game for you.

The Bastion, Nimrod, & Omega Sentinel Character Pack is currently up for pre-order with slated release date of May 22, 2026.

Marvel: Crisis Protocol – Bastion, Nimrod & Omega Sentinel $64.99

Since their creation, Sentinels have been programmed to hunt down mutantkind, and like their targets, Sentinels have also evolved. No longer thoughtless machines, Omega Sentinel, Bastion, and Nimrod have all developed their own machinations, strategies, and plans for both mutant and mankind. So while these may be the most effective Sentinels to date, mankind may also find itself on the receiving end of the Sentinels’ protocol.
