This massive LEGO Castle Pyke MOC inspired by Game of Thrones includes thousands of pieces and amazing rock work.

There are a lot of super cool castles in the Game of Thrones settings. The Red Keep is iconic. Winterfell is a scene of triumph and tragedy. Casterly Rock as all the gold. But one of the most unique and coolest looking castles has got to be Castle Pyke, in the Iron Islands.

Located on the Island of Pyke, the castle is home to House Greyjoy, the Lords of the Iron Islands. The castle is ancient, so old that no one really knows who built it or when. Though originally built fully on the island, erosion has eaten away at the cliffs. This leaves large parts of the castle standing on massive sea stone pillars, marching out into the waves. In some ways, Pyke is really several small castles/towers connected by a series of bridges. The passages between the towers are deadly, and the castle may not be the most comfortable, but it is very cool looking.

LEGO Castle Pyke MOC

A stunning version of Castle Pyke was brought to LEGO by builder Anuradha Pehrson. We’ve covered her truly massive Wall build, and while Pyke is a smaller build the details and techniques here are really amazing. The build uses thousands of pieces built around a technic structure to hold it all together. It was even displayed at the LEGO house for a while, thats how cool it is. You can find Anuradha’s builds here and here.

This build of Pyke is based partially on the HBO show. It does a great job of showing off the cool and unique look of Pyke. On the mainland you’ve got the Curtain Wall and land sections. The build then shows off 3 of the stacks with towers/keeps on them. While canonically Pyke has a lot more than three towers, this build still gives a great sense of the castle and it’s layout. And Pyke does have three main keeps, The Great Keep, the Bloody Keep and the Kitchen Keep, so maybe these are meant to represent those three.

The build, aside from being a cool castle, also shows off a lot of amazing building techniques. Anuradha is a big fan of stone and rock work, and that is on full display here. The stone work in particular is really cool, with lots of great angles and curves that make it really stand out. The clear “water” over blue plates is also a different and cool look. The whole build is so slick and smooth that people have questions if its real or a 3d render (it is very real).

Anuradha walks us through the build and offers up details of the techniques she used…
