A new Warhammer 40K game is about to roar over the horizon with the announcement and imminent console release of Speed Freeks.
Sometimes you have to admire the restraint of a developer. For instance, if I was making a video game where you race around the war-torn planets of the 40K galaxy in kustom ork buggies, there’s no way I’m not calling it “Waaaghrio Kart”. And yet, despite that, Caged Element has instead elected for the more in-universe title Warhammer 40K: Speed Freeks.
But yeah, Waaaghrio Kart is a fantastic jumping off point for understanding the game. If you’re familiar with Speed Freeks from the PC release, you already know what’s up. But in case you don’t, this is a game all about who can be da bestest and da fastest.
Warhammer 40K: Speed Freeks – Coming To Consoles May 21st!
Look, we all know the appeal of 40K Orks. Especially Speed Freeks, whose obsession with building impractically fast and also impractically held-together contraptions of any shape or size is a testament to their Orkgenuity.
And Speed Freeks looks to capture that feeling in console format. You get to build and design your own kustom buggy, which you’ll then take out in deff races, all out assaults and more. Just watching the trailer, you get a sense fornthe chaos and carnage that awaits you and your friends.
“Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks is a high-octane combat racing game where players pilot Ork-built buggies and recently, added Deffkoptas, through explosive multiplayer mayhem. Combining over-the-top weapons, outrageous Orky energy, and relentless speed, it delivers a unique mix of racing and destruction inspired by the brutal Warhammer universe.
Warhammer 40,000: Speed Freeks smashes full cross-play across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, throwing everyone into one massive, high-speed scrap where only the loudest, fastest, and most reckless gitz make it out in one piece. No matter where you play, da WAAAGH rolls together.”
Of course it doesn’t stop with the buggies. There’s a whole lot of community creation tools releasing with this, so you can build your own levels to race through with your friends, no matter the platform. Which is another cool thing. This console release comes with immediate crossplay support. PS5, Xbox Series X, it doesn’t matter, you can race your friends wherever you play and share your cool stuff across the internet, for the good of the Waaagh!!!
Look for Speed Freeks on console May 21st!
And remember – Red Ones go Fasta!!!
