There’s a whole lot of new plastic in the Armageddon Launch box. Here’s what Games Workshop showed off!

The new Launch Box for Warhammer 40,000 11th Edition is coming soon. Games Workshop just held their unboxing for the set and yeah…it’s crazy! So let’s see what they’ve got inside the box!

First up we’ll cover all the non-miniatures stuff. As you can see, there’s a LOT of plastic to go around. But there’s also more goodies because this is a launch box.

There’s a box within the box that protects all the paper goods. There’s couple of new books and decks to use for the new edition.

The first book is Operation Imperator which is essentially a massive lore book. It’s got loads of artwork and detail about Armageddon and the battle happening there.

The next book is the much needed Core Rule Book and GW has gone back to a small-scale version. Personally, I love these versions because of the light weight and ease of travel. It’s a softback!

Oh I did forget there’s also a box that’s got all the datacards for all the units included in the box. So that’s going to be important, too.

There are two different card packs. The First is the Chapter Approved Card Pack.

This is going to be familiar to most current players but it’s no longer split between narrative and matched play. All your missions and setup things are a part of this pack.

The next pack is for campaign play. It’s the Dominatus Card Pack.

As far as we can tell it’s a Deck-based Campaign system. All the “book keeping” has basically been removed and replaced with these cards. It uses the Chapter Approved card pack with this system as well so it’s ready to go right out of the box.

Okay, now it’s time to get to those models. But there’s some big news for them as well: All of the miniatures in the box are Push Fit. That said, there’s still some customization you can do with the miniatures. Specifically the Space Marine Characters have helmets and non-helmet options. Now, let’s see those minis!

Ork Models

Overall this is basically a Combat Patrol worth of Orks plus more. They said it’s about 700-800ish points. So perfect to start a new Ork army or add to an existing one.

The Big Boss is new. He’s kind of like a Space Marine Lieutenant for the Orks.

Wartrakk

The Wartrakk is back and updated with a new plastic kit! It looks fantastic!

Big Mek Dakkarig

The Dakkarig is a new “walker” for the Big Mek and it’s pretty large. It’s going to be great for Ork Armies that want to go with a load of walkers like Deff Dreads.

The Space Marine Models

Again, all these miniatures are Push Fit. That said you can pretty easily customize their heads as most of them can be replaced with other bits. A quick snip and some glue and you can swap things around.

Intercessors

The Intercessors are your basic marines so it’s probably a good thing they are in the Launch Box. These are also chapter agnostic and have no specific chapter markings on their miniatures. It’s all paint and decals when you see them as Blood Angels.

Eradicators Squad With Heavy Bolters

This is a new type of Eradicators. These are special Heavy Bolters and they are going to lay down some serious firepower when they unload on a target.

Vanguard Veterans

Here’s the Vanguard Veterans. They are way less flashy than the older versions. Each comes with a Relic Blade and Heavy Bolt Pistol.

Space Marine Ancient

Again, no chapter specifics on the miniature but the Banner does have some Armageddon-themed markings.

Librarian

The Librarian makes for a cool diorama piece vs the Weird Boy. It’s got a very “psychic power” duel look going on.

Chaplain with Jump Pack

Space Marine Captain

The Captain pairs up nicely with the Warboss if you want another diorama.

Space Marine Land Speeder

The Land Speeder also got a glow up here, too. It’s basically got all the weapons of the previous kit all rolled into one. It’s also got a special rule that lets it move D6″ after shooting, too.

Well that’s all from the box. That’s a LOT of new miniatures and it’s kind of crazy they are all push fit, too!
