Avantris Entertainment has provided ENWorld with an exclusive look at one of the new species appearing in its upcoming Neon Odyssey science-fantasy space opera book for D&D 5E. Launching next week on Kickstarter, Neon Odyssey contains a trilogy of books set in the Stardust Rhapsody. The new book appears to mix high space opera fantasy with a decidedly 1980s-inspired neon look, with dozens of new species and subclasses to try alongside a brand new class – the Machinist.

In the leadup to the Kickstarter’s launch on May 5th, Avantris has provided EN World with a first look at the Yoggoth species, one of the new species found in Neon Odyssey. According to Avantris, “this species is for those who like the weird and alien with a touch of cosmic horror. We think there’s a lot of fun character archetypes in a scavenging and recycling species that still is touched by the long-forgotten hands of their makers through strange and unknowable ways, and we’re excited to see how players incorporate their unexplainable dreams.”

A first look at the species, along with a description of the Yoggoth, can be found below:

Yoggoth Species
A fly-like species said to have been born from the dreams of the galaxy’s elder race, focusing on scavenging and recycling everything they find.

Details
The Yoggoth are a species that varies in size and shape, but have fly-like elements in their biology that make them the ultimate survivors and scavengers. Because they were directly created by the strange, unknowable, and eldritch creators of the galaxy, they retain this otherworldliness to them, allowing them to gain knowledge from dreams and hypnotize foes with their droning.
