In this week’s TTRPG crowdfunding sampler, I review campaigns that close funding between July 10 to 16.
CBR+PNK: OVERLOAD from Mythworks
- END DATE: Thu, July 10 2025 9:31 AM EDT.
- CROWDFUNDING ON: Kickstarter
- SYSTEM(S): Forged in the Dark (CBR+PNK variant)
- PROJECT TYPE: Source pamphlets
- MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $40 + S/H for the PDF and print versions of the pamphlets and boxed set
- WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? CBR+PNK is a Forged in the Dark cyberpunk TTRPG delivered as beautifully designed and printed one-page pamphlets. The core game, CBR+PNK: Augmented, is a silver ENNIE Award-winner (Layout and Design) and a nominee for Product of the Year as well as picking up awards from Polygon and others. The form factor is what makes this project shine, simplified rules with a clear mission designed as one-pagers, one for GM rules and one for player rules. Built for one-shots, you’re a runner on your last mission. The original game provided rules and a few example settings. This crowdfunding provides OVERLOAD, pamphlets that amplify the experience with new rules, complete settings, and adventures, all produced as one oversized pamphlet per topic. 14 to 18 options (depending on stretch goals) come with this campaign. If you’re a fan of cyberpunk and simple rules, this Kickstarter is worth a review.
Defy the Gods RPG from Hectic Electron Games
- END DATE: Thu, July 10 2025 12:30 PM EDT.
- CROWDFUNDING ON: Kickstarter
- SYSTEM(S): Powered by the Apocalypse
- PROJECT TYPE: Core rulebook
- MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $40 + S/H for the PDF and print versions of the book plus a POD discount coupon
- WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? Defy the Gods, slay the tyrants, and find love all in this TTRPG. Inspired by Mesopotamia (the setting is a fantasy version), Conan, Clash of the Titans, and Princess Mononoke, this game offers “queer love and resistance to sword & sorcery role-play.” Using a Powered by the Apocalypse engine variant, you’ll deal with urban life in an ancient city, cosmic horror, and gods that hate your characters. If this idea speaks to you, check out the Kickstarter page for a free PDF quickstart.
Martial Artistry: A Compendium of Combat for 5e Games from Steampunkette
- END DATE: Jul 15, 2025 at 3:00pm EDT.
- CROWDFUNDING ON: Backerkit
- SYSTEM(S): Dungeons & Dragons Fifth Editon
- PROJECT TYPE: Sourcebook
- MOST POPULAR PLEDGE: $25 for a PDF copy of the book
- WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? This third-party sourcebook provides some new classes, rules, and more for your 5e games. Among the new classes, you can add The Champion, The Gunslinger, The Sentinel, The Warcaster, and, if the stretch goals are reached, The Blackguard and The Swordmage, all martial and all previewed on the Backerkit page. In addition, there will be rules for mass combat and social options to allow for a different type of D&D experience. The artwork looks like 5e 2014, so this may appeal to gamers looking for the feel of the early days of 5e.

TsunamiCon 2025 Wichita’s Premier Tabletop Gaming Convention from Prismatic Tsunami Publishing

- WHY SPOTLIGHT THIS CAMPAIGN? If you’re in the Wichita, Kansas area in late October, they’re hosting their 12th annual tabletop gaming convention, TsunamiCon. Housed at the Scottish Rite – They have a picture of the building on the Kickstarter page, it’s that American mix of “modern castle” and “European” apartment building that is exciting architecture for us, but maybe lackluster for Europeans – with rooms for board games, card games, miniatures, LARPing, RPG events, a marketplace, and more. If you’re a fan of tabletop gaming and near this area, it’s worth checking out this gamer friendly, local con.
