Fifth Season: Roleplaying in the Stillness – Out For Pre-Order Now

Fifth Season: Roleplaying in the Stillness takes its name from the first book in NK Jemisin’s Broken Earth trilogy. And just as in the book series, you play as members of a settlement collectively known as a Comm. You work together to try and keep it safe – or watch it all fall apart as disaster looms around every corner.

The AGE system is robust enough to allow for a variety of game styles. Whether you’re tackling challenges that put you thick in the action, defeating dangerous enemies, or stepping back and handling the power behind the throne – and at the diplomat’s table. As your Comm flourishes, so do your characters – unlocking better gear and other upgrades as you and your people flourish.

“Powered by the thrilling Adventure Game Engine, Fifth Season: Roleplaying In the Stillness transports players to the Stillness, where their characters will have to work together to survive cataclysmic Fifth Seasons, defeat dangerous foes, and protect their Comm from threats big and small.”

The Adventure Game Engine, if you’re unfamiliar, is an RPG engine designed around high-action encounters and scenes. Player characters are faced with a plethora of cool options to pick from mid-scene called stunts. You roll 3d6 and add some modifiers, but the real meat and potatoes of the system is the stunts.

These are special options you can pick that let you perform “amazing feats of physical and mental prowess”. Which basically means extra options – you might disarm an opponent, get some extra movement, pierce through an enemy’s armor, or more. The more you roll the more you can pull off. It’s a fun little way to raise the stakes as you keep playing.

Look for the Fifth Season RPG soon!
