‘Twilight Imperium: Thunder’s Edge’ Looms, New Factions and New Gameplay Modes Imminent

Twilight Imperium‘s big new expansion, Thunder’s Edge, is out for pre-order, promising new ways to conquer your friends and the galaxy.

Twilight Imperium is a board game all about gathering some of your good friends together for a whole evening/afternoon of trying to utterly dominate one another. And the upcoming new expansion, Thunder’s Edge, adds all new ways to crush your friends, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of their lovers. Including a whole new gameplay mode with alternate rules, different components, and more. Let’s check it out.

Twilight Imperium: Thunder’s Edge – Pre-Order Available Now

So right away, this is a big, hefty box. It has all the usual stuff you’d expect from a Twilight Imperium expansion. You get new expansions. New world tiles to play with. And of course, new Galactic Events. All of which can change up the base game, giving you untold hours of expanded Twilight Imperium.

You can explore the titular world of Thunder’s Edge, see what secrets lie therein. Or find new ways to mess with your friends (or ally with them, I guess, but in the end only one can sit upon the throne of Mecatol Rex) on your way to Galactic Conquest.

“Welcome to Thunder’s Edge, a new expansion for Twilight Imperium 4th Edition! This colossal expansion brings the classic interstellar conflict to a breaking point, where everything revolves around the titular planet of Thunder’s Edge. New factions take to the galactic stage, new worlds emerge for you to explore (or exploit), and a suite of Galactic Events – modifiers that change the rules of the game – ensure that no two playthroughs will ever be the same.

But the real exciting thing is the new gameplay mode: Twilight’s Fall. This is an alternate way to play Twilight Imperium introduced in the Thunder’s Edge expansion. It lets you take up the mantle of a mad Mahact king as you build your own custom faction in a battle to rule the galaxy. Twilight’s Fall comes with a whole host of unique components, all of which are included in the box.

You will, however, need a full copy of Twilight Imperium: 4th Edition in order to play. So if you have that locked in, and are looking to expand, be sure and snatch up Twilight Imperium: Thunder’s Edge.
