This one is clearly aimed at Ultramarine Players. That new upgrade kit looks great but I’m not sold on the Combat Patrol.

If you’re considering playing Ultramarines you’re in luck. The new Combat Patrol has a ton of generic Space Marines included. But what really makes this an “Ultramarines Only” type of deal are the character included and the fancy new upgrade kit.

” …a new Ultramarines Combat Patrol bundles one of these upgrade sets with a collection of units that make the perfect core of a new Ultramarines army, led by the inimitable Chief Librarian Tigurius.”

Ultramarines Upgrades And Combat Patrol

Included in the Combat Patrol is are five Intercessors, five Reivers, three Bladeguard Veterans, and three Aggressors all led by Chief Librarian Tigurius.

There’s no denying that Chief Librarian Tigurius is a psychic powerhouse in the Imperium. I’m a little bit concerned about the rest of the Combat Patrol to be honest though. It’s a smattering of Space Marine Primaris units for sure.

Honestly, it really does seem like a bit of a hodgepodge of units tossed in the box to go with Tigurius. Maybe that would work in a Combat Patrol game though. I think the real selling point of this box is actually the Ultramarine Upgrades included in it though.

“This collection of sculpted shoulder pads, helmets, and accessories contains 69 individual parts for customising your infantry and vehicles, which is more than the previous two Ultramarines upgrade packs combined. Among the shoulder pads alone, you get options for Phobos, Tacticus, and Gravis-armoured units, as well as specific pads for Bladeguard Veterans, Aggressors, and Terminators.”

I do like the fact that GW is really cramming in the Ultramarines bits into this upgrade pack. It’s certainly a nice number of bits for anyone looking to really deck-out their Ultramarines force. If you’ve never used one of these upgrade kits in the past, they really are a good way to get those chapter specific shoulder pads for your army.

I even like the extras for the vehicles. That’s a nice touch. Also included is a transfer sheet for the Ultramarines, too. If you’re into those, there’s 255 decals to use as well. Perfect for added even more flair to your Ultramarines army.

At the end of the day this Combat Patrol and Upgrade Kit is really aimed at folks who want to kickstart a new Ultramarines army. I can’t recommend this one for anyone other than Ultramarine players — current or future. If you still need Tigurius and want to play Ultramarines this one has you covered.
