It’s time for the Epic army of the Solar Auxilia to go under the spotlight for a pricing breakdown of their Legions Imperialis Combat Patrol.
Well we’ve covered the Legiones Astartes and the Mechanicum. Now it’s time for the Combat Force of the Solar Auxilia to get the math-hammer treatment — at least on the pricing front. Let’s breakdown the contents and the pricing for this new Combat Force boxed set to see the deal you’re getting!
Combat Force Solar Auxilia Pricing Breakdown
Contents
Leman Russ Strike Squadron $52
1/2 of a Dracosan Transport Detachment $26
Total Individual MSRP $234
Total Estimated Savings $64*
*Again this is based on the price point of $170 that I’ve been using for the other Combat Force boxes. Here’s the same breakdown at different prices:
- $150 = Savings of $84
- $170 = Savings of $64
- $190 = Savings of $44
Overall, I do think this will turn out to be a pretty good deal. The discount is more than enough to justify the pricing and I could easily see snagging two of these. That’s with the same caveat as the previous Combat Forces, too: build some of these miniatures first. If you’ve never assembled any LI miniatures you should 100% get some test miniatures to see if you like building in this scale. While it looks super awesome once you’re done, getting there can be daunting.
As tempting as it can be to just snag a pair of Baneblades and build those as your “test” just keep in mind that the larger the miniatures are the easier they are to build (at least for me). I’d try your hand at some Infantry and if you find that doable, then maybe consider investing in a full army.
That said, as I mentioned above, this is a great way to get started for Legions Imperialis. The Solar Auxilia is a challenging army and it’s got a lot of cool kits going for it. There’s loads of armor to play with and the Infantry look cool when you’ve got a bunch of them on the tabletop.

If you’re really a treadhead at heart, then a Solar Auxilia army in LI is a fantastic project, too. If you always wanted an entire motor pool at your disposal but didn’t want to drop the $$$ for all the Leman Russ tanks, well, now you can without breaking the bank.
The Solar Auxilia Combat Force box is out for pre-order this weekend along with the other two Combat Force boxes. It’s a good buy if you want to dive into Legions Imperialis!
So many tanks! There’s even tiny rivets on a few of them!
