Pathfinder 2E shrinks down war, skirmishes, mass combats, and other big events into a pocket-sized version of its Battlecry splatbook.

War might be big, but the upcoming Pathfinder Battlecry! – Pocket Edition is small. But don’t make the mistake of judging it by its size. The events within – and the rules for running them—are still suitably massive. Battlecry! is all about what happens when diplomacy fails, armies are massed (or mustered if they’re just little armies). And the pocket edition is all about making sure you can carry all the weight of skirmishes and invasions in your pants. Or backpack. It all depends on the pocket.

Pathfinder Battlecry! Sometimes War Changes Because We Add New Rules

Pathfinder Battlecry! delves into all things conflict, as long as they involve more than just a handful of combatants. Because this is a book for mass combat rules. But it’s also for more than just mass combat rules. You get everything from minor dustups to full-on world-shaking wars.

But on top of that, there’s new stuff for players two sink their teeth into. There are new ancestries and spells and magic weapons and archetypes. Basically everything you need to make a new character. There’s a ton of stuff for either side of the screen here. It’s a book that has guidance for every part of the conflict.

What will you find within the 224-page book? Quite a bit. Here’s a taste from the back of cover blurb:

This new rulebook for the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game covers all aspects of war, including two bold new character classes! Help steer the flow of battle as a cunning commander, or protect your allies from harm as an indomitable guardian. You’ll also find archetypes that allow you to raise a small battalion of undead soldiers or wield a personal siege weapon, the new larger-than-life jotunborn ancestry, an armory of magic weapons, and rules for running combat alongside troops that you command to fill out your army’s ranks. Golarion’s generals need you, so heed the Battlecry!

The two new classes are the Commander and the Guardian. Commanders are what Warlord fans have been dreaming of. This is the class dedicated to giving your friends more actions and abilities to do cool things. They can also lead troops in new ways to accomplish heroic deeds on the battlefield.

Guardians, meanwhile, are the beefiest tanks out there. They get the most out of their armor and intercept attacks that would devastate someone else. It’s very much the idea you think of when you think of a classic MMO tank archetype.

Those are just two of the new options. There’s also Jotunborn and the advancing Pathfinder metaplot to bite into. So if you want big battles, you’ll want to grab Battlecry! available now!
