Atomic Mass Games has a new bundle of terrain for Marvel: Crisis Protocol. But breaking down the price on this one is kind of weird.
There’s a new bundle for some older terrain for MCP coming to stores soon. The NYC City Block Terrain Collection has a bunch of sets mixed in from previous releases and parsing the pricing out for it is kind of hard. That said, I want to talk about price and utility to see if this set is really worth the price tag.
NYC City Block Terrain Collection
Let’s start with what’s actually in the box. Thankfully, that’s listed on the back:
Contents
- 2 NYC Apartment Buildings
- 2 Cars
- 1 Daily Bugle
- 1 Daily Grind Coffee Stand
- 2 Damage Control Dumpsters
- 2 Traffic Lights
- 2 Street Lights
- 1 Commercial Truck
- 1 Billboard Sticker
- 7 One-shot Cards
Now, this clocks in with a price point of of $154.99. That seems like a lot for the contents. And it’s not the cheapest MCP product, but is this a good deal?
This is where things get a little harder to pin down. The problem is that this set really is a mix/re-issue of a bunch of different kits. That’s not a bad thing — but some of those kits are no long in stock or even listed with no official MSRP to base that off of. That said, I think it’s fair to make some comparisons to existing options to see how close we can get.
While I couldn’t find an official price for the NYC apartments, I could find one for the Santcum Sanctorum set. That comes with the building (which is roughly the same footprint as the apartment) and four pieces of smaller terrain. This one clocks in at $79.95. If we take into account the NYC pack has two of these, that’s basically $160 worth of terrain right there.
As for the Commercial Truck, that one is part of the NYC Commercial Truck terrain pack. Now, that set comes with 2 of them for $39.95. So we can just split that in half to get $19.98 (rounded-up). Now, what about the two cars, and dumpster? Those are another weird one as they aren’t really part of their own sets. You can find them in other sets of terrain or in the Core Set/Mightiest Core Set. But those are already really good deals so, again, it’s hard to parse out the cars and dumpster.
So right now, price wise and comparatively we’re somewhere around $180 in terrain plus some unknown additional value. To me, just based on that, I think this NYC Terrain set is a good deal in terms of value.
NYC Terrain Set Utility
Here’s where I think things get a bit more interesting. In the core rules (page 9 under “creating the battlefield”) the amount of terrain suggested a minimum of 12 pieces ranging in sizes 1-5 with the majority being sizes 2-4.
This set comes with 13 pieces of terrain or 14 if you count the billboard separately. So this box is basically a table’s worth of terrain in a box. If you already have one (or both) of the Core Sets, then mixing in your existing terrain is a perfect way to really fill out a board. The one downside I’d want to point out is that the apartment buildings take up a LOT of space on the tabletop.
However, there are also lots of characters that have fly or wallcrawling that will allow them to hop right up. And because of the way the terrain rules work, that isn’t treated as “dead space” either. So there’s ways to work/play with that terrain in your games — even if they do take up a lot of table space.

So in terms of Utility, I think this box is a really great option to fully equip a tabletop for your games of MCP. It’s slightly more than the minimum and give plays a variety of sizes to interact with. It’s also easily supplemented by options in the core sets. Additionally, and maybe the most obvious/overlooked point is that thematically all this stuff looks great together.
Don’t let the price point scare you away. If you’re looking for a great way to fill out a table this kit is really solid for the price and utility provided. It’s currently up for pre-order and will be in stores on October 31, 2025.
