There’s a trio of Xeno Battleforces coming soon. Let’s take a closer look to see if these are a good deal or not.
The new Battleforces coming this season are looking pretty great. At least if you’re looking to start any of these armies. GW did say these Battleforce Boxes would get you all of the miniature in them “at a lower price than buying them separately” which is also great. We took a look at the Imperial Battleforce Boxes and the pair of Chaos Battleforces. Now it’s time for the Xenos armies to get their day under the pricing breakdown microscope!
One quick note on these: We still don’t have an official price point for these battleforces. That said, I’m guessing they are somewhere in the $240-$280 price point. So I’m still doing a pricing array to show off the savings at a few various points. Ultimately, the savings will come down to how GW prices these out as they could all come in at different prices anyhow.
Leagues of Votann – Cthonian Prospect Pricing Breakdown
Contents
Brôkhyr Iron-master with Ironkin Assistant and three E-COGs $60
2x Leagues of Votann transfer sheets
Total Individual MSRP $369
Total Estimated Savings
- $240 = $129
- $260 = $109
- $280 = $89
Realistically, this is a really solid core for a Leagues of Votann army. If you snagged this plus a Combat Patrol box, you’d have all your bases covered. At that point you’d really just need to play some games, see what’s working, and then where you’d like to expand from there. If the Leagues of Votann is calling to you then you should absolutely snag this box.

Do you like big bugs and you cannot lie? Well, here ya go! As a Tyranid player myself, I’ve got mixed feelings about this one. Only because I already have these big bugs and I don’t really need more of them. That said, I think this is probably a good option for people looking to add these kits to your collection at a discount. It’s also one of the few Battleforces I could legitimately see buying two of. Why? Because (as you can see from the breakdown above) three of those big bugs have alternate build options.
Then again, if you are looking to really optimize your build you should read-up on which units do what to figure out if they fit your playstyle. It’s an investment to plop a big bug on the tabletop. Take it from me and give the rules a look before you settle on which bug version you want to build. Otherwise you might have some big bugs collecting a lot of dust on your shelf.
T’au – Farsight Cadre Pricing Breakdown
Contents
8x Drones (included with the other kits)
T’au Infantry transfer sheet
Total Individual MSRP $345
Total Savings
- $240 = $105
- $260 = $85
- $280 = $65
I said this previously but this feels a lot like Farsight’s The Eight, minus two units of course. This is one of those battleforces that a single purchase if you’re going to get it because it comes with Farsight who’s a unique character. I don’t think the savings would justify getting more than one unless you had a way to recoup some of the savings with that second Farsight you’ll have. Maybe it would be good trade fodder. I suppose you could also model it into something else — but you do you. I think it’s a solid single purchase for anyone looking to expand their T’au.
That’s all for the Xenos Battleforces coming from Games Workshop this Holiday Season. Which one are you leaning towards?
