The 40K champ is here and the new boogie man of the competitive scene has reared its head. Take a look at Adepticon Fall 2025’s winner!

LVO wasn’t too long ago and while I couldn’t make it this year it seems to have gone over pretty well.  The venue was new, the location felt better, and it appears players had a great time.  All of these things are good for the game as again more tournaments allow players to get more chances to play.  This LVO was won by a wild Astra Militarum list that looks like a nightmare to play against and a hard list to truly master.

The event was won by a player that goes by Nemo the Fish who plays a lot of TTS – Tabletop Simulator online.  He has won a few of the bigger events online and is well known amongst that crowd that love to practice with that game.  He also played on some friends team that took 2nd place at the Challenger’s cup so while I didn’t get a chance to talk to him I did see his army.  It looked pretty dang good and just seeing the sheer amount of models on the table top look pretty wild.
Here is the list and as you can see – yes it was 200+ models.

Avalanche of Guard Tactics

What is wild about this list is that you could basically not roll a ton of shooting dice as all you had to do was move onto objectives, control it with your piles of high OC models, and watch as your opponent tries to figure out ways to quickly kill 20 man blobs that can regen models back.  It just feels like a nightmare to play against as it is just waves and waves of bodies.

If your army can’t easily crack 20 man blobs with good armor saves you won’t last long against it.  This detachment rules helps give your models cover if they don’t have it and if they do they gain extra pip of armor saves as well.  This gets your regular squishy guardsman up to a maximum of a 3+ armor saves which is just wild to think about.  Then with the units Med-Pack kits they can easily respawn models if you don’t kill the entire squad.

I don’t know about you but just seeing this many models on the table would have me reaching for my chess clock and hoping I can figure out ways to drive Bezerker blobs into those units.  Of course he also can throw out a ton of damage as there are so many little hidden power weapons, Powerfist, and plasma guns they can just chew thru things as needed.  The Rough Riders also help give you some counter punch action as you take over the board with your piles of bodies.

Good job for bringing a giant horde of nonsense list and just having the ability to get all those models moving on the table top.  I think having 20 man units be that cheap is an issue and will see if others try this out.  I just couldn’t imagine trying to get all those models together plus having to paint them all.

Everyone give it up for Nemo the Fish. Well played kind sir!
