Wizards of the Coast announced that manufacturing delays will impact the arrival of recent Magic: The Gathering – Secret Lair drop set releases.
The manufacturing delay occurred because the raw materials being using in the production process had “inconsistencies” that affected “product quality and safety.” These raw materials needed to be replaced, which threw off WotC’s manufacturing schedule. WotC offered fans options to deal with their delayed items: sit tight, modify their order, or cancel their order.
Manufacturing delays have been more or less par for the course in 2025. Tariffs (see “Erratic Tariff Policy“) have made sourcing certain game components and raw materials tricky lately. The sheer volume of Magic product that WotC had been pumping into the market in 2025 (see “Growth Accelerated in Q3“) dramatically increased their chances of being bit by the Unavailability of Raw Resources Bug by the end of the year. It wasn’t so much a matter of “if” but “when?”
Despite the manufacturing delays, WotC still has a couple of Secret Lair drops up for preorder soon (see “Special Package“) and also, “Superdrop“).
