Games Workshop has released a trio of new Faction Packs as well as a rules update today for Warhammer: Age of Sigmar.

This one is for the Aelves out there…and the Tree-spirits I suppose. There’s new Faction Packs for the Lumineth Realm-lords, Daughters of Khaine, and the Sylvaneth. Additionally, there’s a Rules Update and another update to the Legends Compendium, too.

New Rules Updates

In terms of changes, there’s a lot of them in the Rules Update. There are a few broad changes like the one to Objective Control or Garrisoning in Faction Terrain.

But there’s also a TON of individual changes to armies for Matched Play, Path to Glory, abilities, and even some individual units. There’s over 50 pages to sift through. Luckily, you can just look for that Purple “New” tag or even the yellow “Updated” tag.

It’s really a smattering of changes across the spectrum of armies in the game and the different modes.

New Faction Packs

As far as the Faction Packs, this is more of the same for those. If you’re not familiar with the idea of the Faction Packs, they were introduced to help consolidate the rules for their respective armies. You’ll find battle traits, faction rules, warscrolls, and even Spearhead rules in them.

These are basically the rules you’ll need to play your army. At least until the army gets a new Battletome. At that point, there might be a supplemental download. But in any case, for now, these three factions got an update today.

So if you’re playing those armies be sure to download them and read up on any changes/updates for you! This is good timing too because the World Champs of Warhammer are coming very soon so now everyone can be on the same page.

Legends Compendium

The final update today is for the Legends Compendium. This update is where your old model’s rules go to die. Sorry, that’s maybe too harsh. But sadly that’s not too far from the truth. Just about all of the models in this compendium have been pulled from the website, were from a warband in either Underworlds or Warcry, or in many cases all of the above.

If you’ve been wondering “what happened to that one unit from my previous Battletome?” Odds are it has migrated over to Legends. Technically, these rules make the units still playable in the current edition. However, they are generally not used for Matched Play…but always check with your Tournament Organizer as there may be exceptions.
