The Galactic Republic Starter Set is out in the wild. We’ve got one in the house and are taking a closer look inside!

Atomic Mass Games has a really solid hit on their hands with the new Star Wars: Legion starter sets. They are really great deals and the Galactic Republic one in particular seems to be a fan favorite. I was fortunately sent a review copy and now I’m going to take a closer look at the contents and see what we can find.

Unsurprisingly, everything listed on the back was indeed inside the box. Shocker I know.

Galactic Republic Starter Set Unboxing

Kicking things off, you get a set of flyers that cover the 600 point Recon-level version of this set. Basically, it’s everything you need to start playing those size games inside this box and this example list helps you quickly get playing. Just build the units as shown and you’re ready to go.

Also included are the extras to actually play the game. Your tokens, score tracker, dice, and measuring tools. These are all the same across the four different starter sets which is why these sets are so fantastic for new players.

Seriously, if you were looking to dabble or go all-in for Star Wars: Legion, I’m positive you won’t find a better boxed product to do that.  These sets really are that good.

Cards & Sprues

As far as the rest of the contents, you’ll get 4 play sets of cards for the supported languages and they each come in their own bag. Thankfully, everything is pre-sorted, too. So no need to pop all the bags — just find your language and go.

If you want a better look at all the cards, then your best bet is to just download them all from AMG directly. All of the current unit cards and the Command Cards are free. There’s even the upgrade cards are there, too.

As for the sprues and bases those come in seperate bags as well. And there’s a LOT of sprues:

I do want to note that you get Obi-Wan Kenobi as well as a Jedi Guardian in the pack. But there’s also a whole lot of clone troopers in here. 22 in total for the basic troops as then seven each of the ARC/ARF Troopers.

Personally, I really like the Galactic Republic army because it’s more of an elite fighting force. Good armor and weapons mixed in with sturdy troops. But also there’s no denying the appeal of running a bunch of Jedi either.

Unfortunately, this set is sold out online at the moment. If you do find it in person, and you’re remotely interested in playing, you might want to grab it. AMG is looking to do restocks but those might not be around until December. We’ll have to wait and see how that goes! Even if this set does get restocked, I can see it selling out pretty fast. As I mentioned in the pricing breakdown, it’s technically better to buy two of these than a pair of Clone Trooper Boxes — that’s how good of a deal this is. Good luck on finding this one.

Star Wars: Legion – Galactic Republic Starter Set $99.99

The Galactic Republic maintains order across a vast collection of star systems ranging from the Core Worlds to the Outer Rim Territories. These systems enjoyed many millennia of peace and prosperity while under the governance of the Galactic Senate. However, a schism between the systems grew which led to the creation of the Separatist Alliance. Now, the Galactic Republic must deploy its clone army in order to quell the Separatist uprising and return order to the Republic.

This one might be my favorite of the bunch…
