Universal Distribution, which announced in October that it would be taking over Free Comic Book Day (see “Free Comic Book Day Acquired”) has now revealed more details of the upcoming event. FCBD will be held on May 2, 2026, staying with the established schedule of the first Saturday in May, and participating publishers will include Archie, DC, Dynamite, Image, Mad Cave, Oni Press, Titan, Udon, and Vault. Universal will also partner with Lunar Distribution and Diamond UK, which will distribute the comics through their networks, making the event more widely accessible.
In addition, game publishers Upper Deck and Wizards of the Coast will also participate. Universal CEO Angelo Exarhakos has said in the past that he would like to see more comics in game stores and vice versa (see “ICv2 Interview: Universal Distribution CEO Angelo Exarhakos”).
Universal will announce the final details of publishers and titles later this month.
