The Night Lords are back with the Murderwing! It’s a new squad geared up and ready to tackle Shadowhunt from the skies in Kill Team.

Yesterday we got a look at the Adepta Sororitas and their new Kill Team coming with Shadowhunt. Today, we’re getting the other half of that boxed set. It’s the Night Lords and their Murderwing’s turn to show off.

Most kill teams sneak around and stab people out of practical necessity, because small teams of elite operatives don’t want to get bogged down in a sprawling battle behind enemy lines. Most kill teams also realise that to maintain their stealthy ways, it’s a good idea to not scream about murdering people and rev ear-shredding chainswords while blasting through the air on rocket-powered jump packs.

The Murderwing are not most kill teams.

Murderwing Rules Preview

Get ready to make some noise with this Kill Team. It’s kind of hard to be quite when you’re leaping around with a Jump Pack. So if you’re going to wear one into battle, you might as well make it count. The Murderwing does just that with their special rules.

Yes, this means you can leap over obstacles as long as you’re moving in a straight line…which should be too hard. That said you’ll want to familiarize yourself with the Boost Actions and how those work. There’s also the concept of Boost Zones. I’ll let GW explain:

The area they cover while Boosting is known as the Boost Zone, and anyone inside it who isn’t also under Vantage terrain can expect some rather nasty surprises from above.

Why would that be important? Because the Murderwing can get the Slice From Above action thanks to an equipment choice. Turns out their Jump Packs can also be used offensively and not just because of the movement bonus. You’ll get to do some damage thanks to their deadly Jumps.

Who doesn’t like to cause free damage to the enemy just because you’re jumping over them? Seem good to me!

The final batch of rules previewed were from the Murderwing Curseclaw Operative Card which you can see below.

They are still Chaos Space Marines so you can bet they are going to be tough and deadly. That said, if you’re looking for more insight from some folks who’ve gotten to play them check out the full WarCom article for more info. There’s a pretty solid explanation of how the Murderwing functions in Kill Team.
