Marvel: Crisis Protocol has a TON of existing characters which is why I’m still shocked these characters are missing.
I know that Atomic Mass Games is currently chewing on quite a few new characters as well as a hefty reprint list. I get that they also don’t want to just dump more characters into the game as that can cause some balance issues. And I also know the obvious characters that get requested constantly (Doom, Fanastic Four, Galaticus, Silver Surfer, etc.) and yes, I’m guilty of mentioning them, too! Doctor Doom in particular feels like the “Squat-Clock” of MCP…
ANYHOW, I recently picked up two of the orginial The Winter Guard character packs for my collection and that got me thinking. Red Guardian is probably the most well known character from this batch of four…How/Why did AMG make this group before “X” character(s)? The “X” was this list. So let me just dive in.
Cloak and Dagger
I know that Cloak and Dagger had a show for a bit (it was 2 seasons and I think it was on the CW). But really I think that Marvel Rivals really shot this pair to the top of pop culture awareness. Honestly, this seems like an awesome pair of miniatures waiting to happen. I don’t know if AMG would do a combo miniature or just use the transformation mechanic or what. Either way Cloak and Dagger seem like a easy win for Marvel: Crisis Protocol.
Daughters of the Dragon
This is another twofer but the Daughters of the Dragon seems like an easy option. Colleen Wing and Misty Knight have a long history in Marvel. On top of that, they both got a bunch of screen time in the Netflix MCU shows. Plus, they are more “street level” characters and I think the game could always use more of those. Oh, and one more thing, this pair would also be an easy way to add a Heroes of Hire Affiliation, too! So c’mon AMG, what’s the hold up?!
Captain Britain
Is this just a thinly veiled excuse to mention the superhero team of Excalibur? Yes. But also this seems like another no brainer! I’d argue that before the MCU put Red Guardian in the movies that Captain Britain was a more popular/well known character. You know what else? I’d even settle for the alternate version of Captain Britain with Peggy Carter from the “What if…” stories.
Or both. Both would also be acceptable!
Black Knight
We have an article covering the Black Knight in a lot more detail. That said, it was written back when there was a Black Knight movie that was teased in the MCU. Whatever happened to that? Well…that’s probably a longer read for another time.
Anyhow, the Black Knight would still be a cool addition to Marvel: Crisis Protocol. I think I really just got inspired by Valkyrie. She’s not the only one with a flying horse in Marvel afterall. Plus the Ebony Blade is a really cool/powerful weapon in Marvel. I’d like to see it on the tabletop in MCP at some point.
Who else would you like to see join the ranks of characters in Marvel: Crisis Protocol?
