Roll20 has a free quickstart adventure for the Discworld RPG that will pull you into a ready-to-play Ankh-Morpork.

Terry Pratchett’s Discworld is one of the greatest works of fantasy that you can find. The stories set within resonate with folks around the world, in all walks of life. And it’s because at the heart of them is the idea that people are people, for both better and worse. Warts and all. The Discworld is a place where everything plays by sort of narrative rules, which is why it being the setting of an RPG makes a ton of sense to me.

And you can try the RPG out for yourself – even if you didn’t back its massively successful crowdfunding campaign. Roll20 has the Quickstart rules for Discworld: Adventures in Ankh-Morpork available for free, right now!

Discworld: Adventures in Ankh-Morpork Quickstart On Roll20

Step into the only city divided by a “river” thick enough that you can walk on it if you don’t dawdle. Find out why The Big Wahoonie is the best worst city in the disc-shaped world. A world which, naturally, rests atop the back of four elephants, who themselves stand atop the back of Great A’tuin, the star turtle). It’s a city described as “only two meals away from chaos at the best of times.” And honestly, lives up to the reputation.

This RPG uses its own bespoke RPG system that involves a lot of justification. You make characters with traits that describe them. Then you spend as much of your convincing power as is possible trying to convince the DM that being a dogcatcher means. Fundamentally, you know how to deal with animals, and by that extension, you should know how to deal with a dragon.

Then you roll a die and try to beat the Narrativium Die (which is a die with a number of sides somewhere between 7 and 9) to see if you can accomplish it. If that sounds simple, it is. But there’s a lot more depth that gets layered in around it, as you can see for yourself in the Quickstart rules.

“Adventures in Ankh-Morpork, the Discworld tabletop roleplaying game, catapults you onto the streets of the Big Wahoonie, and once you’ve dusted yourself off you can adventure to your heart’s content. With imagination and some shiny math rocks at your fingertips, your story on the Disc awaits.”

In the Quickstart package, you get the essential core rules. This includes the streamlined version that outlines the shadow of what is contained within the core rulebook. You also get an adventure for up to 5 players, a quick primer on Discworld lore, and five pre-generated characters you can start playing with right away.
