This massive LEGO Rivendell uses thousands of pieces to create the enchanting elven stronghold, and some Nazgul in big trouble.

There are few more iconic fantasy settings than The Lord of the Rings. It’s a grand setting for a grand and timeless tale. It’s also a setting filled with many iconic locations, cities, and fortresses. One of the standouts among them is Rivendell, the Last Homely House. Home to Elrond Half-elven and a haven for all the free peoples.

In both the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit Rivendell features prominently as a place of refuge and counsel. It also acts as a jumping off point for the quests in both those stories. Rivendell is also just one of the prettiest locations in the whole story.

LEGO Rivendell

Now we’ve seen a few LEGO Rivendells before, but this has got to be the biggest one out there. Created by Alice Finch and David Frank this massive build contains over 200,000 pieces. The MOC is about 10 ft x 5 ft making it truly staggering in its size. It also includes around 200 custom mini-figs that the builders made for the set. It’s just a massive set that has so many details.

This set is packed full of details, both from The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. On the left side you have the classic scene from the Fords of Bruinen with Elrond raising the river to drive off the Nazgul. Water is a clear theme in the MOC with rivers, streams and waterfalls abounding. It’s a great way to emphasize the natural aspect of Imladris.

Overlaying the lovely natural aspect of the build are the sprawling buildings of Rivendell. You’ve got all the iconic locations with bridges and housing locations. You’ve got the famous gazebo and the stately entrance. You’ve also got the council and feasting halls. It’s really got everything you’d want here.

Abe is that rare thing, an Austin local born and raised here. Though he keeps on moving around, DC, Japan, ETC., he always seems to find his way back eventually. Abe has decades of experience with a wide range of tabletop and RPG games, from historicals, to Star Wars to D&D and 40K. He has been contributing to BOLS since almost the start, back when he worked at and then owned a local gaming store. He used to be big into the competitive Warhammer tournament scene but age has mellowed him and he now appreciates a good casual match. He currently covers Warhammer: The Old World, as well as all things Star Wars, with occasional dabbling in other topics. Abe mourned over loss of WFB for its entire hiatus, but has been reborn like a gaming phoenix with Warhammer: The Old World.
