Magpie Games has just released a quickstart ruleset for its upcoming Temeraire RPG, so you can try the game ahead of the Kickstarter.
Magpie Games will soon be launching its Temeraire RPG – based on the world of Naomi Novik’s Napoleonic series of dragons and the officers who bond with them – on Kickstarter. But before that, you can get an idea of how the game will play, thanks to a newly released Quickstart ruleset for Temeraire. Check it out!
Magpie Games Releases Temeraire RPG Quickstart Preview
This is all perfectly timed, of course. At the end of the month, Magpie Games’ Temeraire RPG will hit Kickstarter. February 24th, specifically, if you’re playing along at home. So having the Quickstart rules means you can see if this kind of game will be for you and your friends.
If you’re unfamiliar with the Temeraire series, what are you doing with your life? The books start with His Majesty’s Dragon, and follow the tale of Temeraire, the series’ eponymous dragon, and Captain William Laurence, as they soar through the Napoleonic wars. But there’s dragons. Everyone has dragons and they use them to fight. It’s fun stuff.
And of course, in the RPG you can delve into the world even more. You can explore dragons and their companions throughout the world. Here’s the announcement:
“Based on the popular series by Naomi Novik, Temeraire: The Roleplaying Game allows you and your friends to take on the roles of soldiers and dragons in the Napoleonic Era, fighting for home, for freedom, and for each other. Are you ready to take flight?”
Of course, if you want to check out the Quickstart rules for yourself, you can find them at the link below. You will have to sign up to be notified when the Kickstarter launches to get the rules themselves, but if you like the rules, you’ll be ready for it.
What’s in the Quickstart? The streamlined core rules, six pregenerated characters, and a playable mission: A Minuet of Dragons. Just enough of a sampler to really get a taste.
