Vault Comics has not one but two Dungeon Crawler Carl graphic novels in the works: A webcomic adaptation of Matt Dinniman’s prose novel that runs on the WEBTOON platform will get its first print release on May 19, 2026, while the original graphic novel Dungeon Crawler Carl: Crocodile is scheduled for publication in 2027.
Dungeon Crawler Carl, Vol. 1, a graphic adaptation by Laurel Pursuit Studios, collects the first 14 episodes of the WEBTOON series, which currently has 200,000 subscribers and 4.7 million views. The 2026 Free Comic Book Day title Dungeon Crawler Carl #0 is the first chapter of this graphic novel, which is one of 14 ebook adaptations that were announced in a 2024 deal (see “WEBTOON Inks Deal with Ebook Publisher Aethon”). Aethon acquired a majority stake in Vault in 2025 (see “Vault Sells Majority Stake”).
Meanwhile, Dungeon Crawler Carl: Crocodile (see “‘Dungeon Crawler Carl’ Graphic Novel”), a graphic novel side story, racked up over $2.6 million in pledges from almost 27,000 backers on the BackerKit platform. This graphic novel, by Dinniman, writer Michael Moreci, and artist Brett Bean, is slated for release to backers in March 2027. The book will be distributed via Lunar to the direct market and Simon & Schuster to the book channel, but no retail release date has been announced yet.
The best-selling novels are also being adapted into an RPG and a deck-building game (see “Renegade Announces ‘Dungeon Crawler Carl’ Deckbuilder”), which will be crowdfunded on Backerkit in a campaign due to launch in April 2026.
