It looks like Games Workshop is ready to shed some light on the latest Rumor Engine. Let’s see what they are cooking up.

Welcome to another Tuesday and a brand new Rumor Engine from Games Workshop. Today’s image is very clearly a Lantern. But it’s rather ornate. That has us wondering what sort of lantern it could be. But I’m getting ahead of myself. So take a look at the image and we’ll chat more…

This week the Rumour Engine is illuminating us with another glimpse of the future. Enjoy speculating about the mystery lamp!

Rumor Engine – Light The Lantern

Okay so we’ve got a very fancy lantern (or maybe just a lamp). My gut reaction was that this was something from the Nighthaunt range as they are known to carry lanterns.

But then I started looking a bit closer at this one and I think it’s actually too new and well made for the Nighthaunt. My next thought was that maybe it was for the Lumineth Realm-lords. But they just got their new battletome and I don’t think this teaser would be here. Also, I think they are more about the inner-light than a physical lantern.

It’s too well made to be something from the Destruction side of things. Could it be chaotic? Maybe! There’s a couple of factions of Chaos that appreciate things being graceful. The Hedonites in particular come to mind.

But why would they want a Lantern? I don’t know…That’s part of the problem. On the Grimdark side of the Warhammer Coin, I’m just as lost on this one. It doesn’t look like a particularly effective piece of wargear. Why not just have a tactical flashlight or floodlight. While I can point out what factions this Lantern wouldn’t be a part of (Orks, Necrons, Tyranids are obvious ones), I don’t really know where it would fit in.

Yeah…they don’t strike me as the “ornate lamp type” of faction.

Oh well. This one has me stumped. If you’ve got any ideas drop us a line in the comments. I could use some enlightenment for this Rumor Engine.

It’s ornate and old school.
