A new early access trailer for Solasta II shows off the power of a fully armed and operational 5.5E ruleset adapted for video games.

The first Solasta: Crown of the Magister was an incredible adaptation of D&D 5E. It was perhaps the single most faithful adaptation of the rules – if you wanted tactical dungeon crawls, where abilities like Fly and Spider Climb and Jump mattered as much as spells like a precisely aimed fireball, it was the game for you. And now, Tactical Adventures is back with a new foray, Solasta II. Only this time it’s the 5.5E ruleset, and it’s just as faithfully adapted in a brand new dungeon crawler that has just launched into early access.

Solasta II – Early Access Now

You can, in fact, start playing the game right now. All you have to do is head over to Steam and grab your Early Access. Of course, being early access, the game is going to be in an unpolished state. But that’s what early access is for – to help shape the game with feedback from players like you.

And what a game you’ll get in Solasta II. Right now, as part of the early access, you can play through a solid chunk of the first part of the story. The early access level cap is set at 4, but that covers quite a bit, including your first steps into having a subclass. You can even multiclass right now.

“Step into the shoes of the Colwall family, a group of orphans who are thrown into the depths of despair in search of their sister. Explore a vast and vibrant world via the World Map, and face challenges head on in turn-based combat. Inspired by classic tabletop games and using the 2024 D&D 5E SRD ruleset, Solasta II is a detailed interpretation of the beloved dice rolling experience.”

At launch, there are 6 classes, with 13 subclasses, a variety of species to pick from – and because the game uses the SRD, you get to see Tactical Adventures’ take on filling out the subclasses of the world. After all, only a few core subclasses are in the SRD.

If you liked the first one – and I did – Solasta II‘s early access might be your perfect jumping off point. Satisfying dungeon crawls, tactical fights using the rules system we know and love. That and more await you in Solasta II!

Of course, if you can’t hang with early access (I know I have a hard time with it), the goal is to stay in early access for a year, with a 2027 goal for a 1.0 release!
