The Daughters of Khaine are getting a new Battletome. That means new tricks up their blood-soaked sleeves in Warhammer: Age of Sigmar.
You know if they wore sleeves that is… Anyhow, they do have new rules to cover. These are sure to get the battlefield bloody really quick as well. So let’s dive in err take a look. I don’t want to dive into a pool of blood.
Blood for the other blood god! The new Daughters of Khaine battletome features a revamped battle trait focused on performing blood rituals. Join us as we head to the shrine to get baptised in gore.
Daughters of Khaine New Rules
The Daughters of Khaine are getting a new battle trait to play with. It involves spilling blood and passing the Anointed keyword around.
Here get a look at the Anointed Ritualist rule. This one is kind of weird. At first you’d think this was a boon to the anointed. However, this power really kicks in when one (or more) of the anointed units gets destroyed. Suddenly, they now get the Exalted Abilities from the Destroyed anointed units on their warscroll…
And you can kind of see how that would start to stack-up. Heck, you could even select a sacrificial lamb (or two) in order to really boost the hero you want to take it to the enemy by the end of the game. It’s kind of like a really messed-up shell game of passing powers around. One example GW used was the Melusai Ironscale. Wouldn’t it be nice to have Ironscale’s Fury on a different hero?
So yeah…when the DoK offer their anointed hero up in combat just be aware you might be making things harder for yourself in the end. Then again, taking out enemy heroes in general is a good thing. So maybe this is more of a way for the DoK to keep the pressure up by the end of the game. Not that they don’t have OTHER tricks to play…
Again, the DoK are really into spilling blood and that’s where their new Blood Rites passive kicks in. There’s a whole list of things that can trigger this effect:
So what does the Blood Rites rule actually trigger? Well, Blessings of Khaine, of course! Because Khaine loves a good blood bath. And these abilities will certainly help the DoK spill even more blood. It’s almost like this blood god doesn’t really care where the blood is flowing from as long as it’s flowing…
As you can see, this is an every stacking list of abilities the DoK can get. Luckily (?) you can only activate one per turn (Army) and they start at the End of Any Turn. So uh…you’ve got a little bit of time to get ahead of the blood tide swelling.
And just for fun, the new Blood Hags also have a nice way to interact with all those Blood Rites going off.
So if the Blood Hags manage to mop-up any enemy units that round the DoK can trigger TWO of those abilities. Again, looking at the list, that’s going to be tough to deal with. While I don’t think any one power is going to be busted by itself, these STACK. Once the blood ball gets rolling it’s quickly going to turn into a murder ball. Just let that soak in.
Remember: The Daughters of Khaine are an ORDER army.
