Caught in a dungeon without a Rogue? These magic items aren’t a replacement, but they can help if you’re in a pinch.
Sometimes, you end up in a dungeon, and you don’t have a Rogue along with you. Maybe your party never had one. Maybe the Rogue’s player just didn’t show up. Either way, here are some magic items that can help you get away with not having a Rogue (or Bard or anyone else with a good skill bonus) on hand.
Chime of Opening

The Chime of Opening is pretty helpful. It does exactly what you’d think. You activate it, and when you do it casts Knock. It’s not exactly a replacement for a Rogue, but if you need to unlock a door, a chest, or something, anyone with this item can get you through. As long as there aren’t more than ten doors in the way.
Cloak of Invisibility

Sometimes you need a Rogue to sneakily scout ahead of the party to see what danger lies in wait. And if nobody in the party can make a Stealth check to save their lives, then a Cloak of Invisibility can help you get places relatively undetected.
You can’t rely on it. But it’s better than nothing.
Nolzur’s Marvelous Pigments

The bag of a Rogue is packed full of a variety of assorted items. They often carry specialized tools or end up holding just the right thing – when you don’t have someone who can think quickly, though Nolzur’s Marvelous Pigments can help you out by letting you paint whatever you need on a handy surface, and then it becomes real.
Oil of Etherealness

Rogues are often especially good at getting into secured locations. Oil of Etherealness is a magic item that lets you literally phase through walls. There are very few places you can’t get into if you have a phial of this – as long as you have the time it takes to apply it.
Gloves of Thievery

Finally, Gloves of Thievery. As the name suggests, these gloves make you good at being a thief, in the form of a +5 bonus to Sleight of Hand checks. While they won’t help you know what to steal – they will, in fact, help you pick a pocket or two.
