Games Workshop is unleashing the Daughters of Khaine and the Sylvaneth this weekend. Come see the new units up close!
We got shipped previews for the new Daughters of Khaine and Sylvaneth miniatures. Our team built them up and we’ve got the goods to show off for you all. Check out the new Blood Hags, Shrine of Dark Tribute, and the Grove Guardian!
New Daughters of Khaine
The Blood Hags are coming out swinging with this new unit. The miniatures are more heavily armored than their sisters and are packing serious looking two-pronged polearms. I do like the updated look and the dynamic poses of this unit are cool.
Personally, I’m also curious to see the community get out there and paint this unit up. I’m also wondering what sorts of conversion/kitbash opportunities there are with this unit and others. I know that’s not something that’s always an option with GW’s new designs but I’m still curious about head swaps or alternate build options here.
Also included with this wave is the new Shrine of Dark Tribute. This altar provides some nice buffs in game but I really like the design of it. To me, it’s a nod to the Bloodwrack shrine kit with the stairs and arches. At the same time, it’s different enough that it’s distinct. I’m liking the direction GW has gone with these additions to the Daughters of Khaine.
Sylvaneth Grove Guardian
On the Sylvaneth front, we’ve got a new character with the Grove Guardian. This miniature is kind of crazy to me because it’s legs are basically inside a massive tree trunk. It’s almost like some sort of crazy wood-based exosuit. That said, part of that appeal comes from how you end up painting it.
Reguardless of how you paint it the miniature is certainly on point for the Sylvaneth. This is clearly another Dryad-like wood spirit inhabiting some gnarly tree. There’s load of details all over this miniature. In particular, I wanted to point out the Tree-Revenant that’s being uh…grown(?) on the side. That’s a neat detail.
Overall, I really like these new releases for both armies. All of them are on brand for their respective army but bring something slightly new and different. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to go check out the battletome for the Sylvaneth. It might be time to start that treekin army I’ve been wanting…
So many Aelves!
