Marvel Comics has a LOT of characters. Here’s a few I hope we never see join the tabletop in Marvel: Crisis Protocol.

Okay, so I was going to do some sort of April Fools joke about how these characters have been announced and will join Marvel: Crisis Protocol. But after compiling this list I just can’t continue with this gag. Instead, I’m going to go the opposite route. I really hope these obscure characters stay that way and never join the tabletop.

Adam-X

I don’t know if I can truly express how 90’s this character is. Adam Neramani has a backstory only a comic book character could have. He’s part mutant, part Shi-ar and half brother to Cyclops. Which means he’s also related to the rest of the Summers brothers. His powers include the typical enhanced strength/speed/stamina you’d expect from a character that goes by Adam-X The X-Treme. On top of his affinity for blades, he’s also got the power to ignite blood. Between that power and the backwards baseball cap, I don’t think you can really get any more 90’s unless he also had a skateboard and a plaid shirt tied-around his waist. Well crap. I guess he could get more 90’s then…

Pockets Possum & Shrub

Between the name, the attitude, the “Me am Shrub” repeating sentence and the fact that Pockets has sworn revenge against Rocket Raccoon, I really hope I don’t need to explain this one. And yes, these two are actual characters from the main marvel 616 universe. Their first appearance was in Rocket Raccoon and Groot #1. And hey, I get it. I see what the writers were trying to do here. I don’t even hate their character designs. But please, no. We don’t need these two in Marvel: Crisis Protocol.

Paul

Okay, this one is really here for the Spider-Man fans out there. If you don’t know who Paul Rabin is, well, he’s probably one of the most hated characters in all of the Spider-Man fan mythos. Why? I think you could write a whole article about that. But really, I think it boils down to the fact that he was Mary Jane’s rebound after Peter and Mary split. By most accounts he’s not a bad person either. He’s not unlikable. But he’s also just kind of…a dude.

There’s actually a LOT more to it than that. And Marvel has tried REALLY HARD to flesh out his backstory. Marvel even made him a genius capable of building the Jackpot device. But the Spidey fans just do NOT like this guy.

Anyhow, I don’t think he’s a good fit for MCP anyhow based on the fact that his primary power set is that he’s …a dude. Unless AMG just wanted to make a threat 1 character for Spider-fans to shove into a dumpster for some reason.

Franklin Richards

So this one is complicated only because Franklin’s powers are wild. I’ve actually covered a few other characters I hope we don’t get. And you could absolutely make the case that Franklin Richards isn’t an obscure character these days. But I think to the majority of non-comicbook fans out there, Franklin Richards is still a relative unknown. But I really hope we don’t get him added to the game, like…ever. The main reason is I don’t know how you balance the powers of some kid that can create entire universes with his mind. Let’s just table this little guy for now.

ForgetMeNot

I guess technically this is a bonus character. But I really hope we don’t get ForgetMeNot (aka Xabi) in Marvel: Crisis Protocol. He’d be a very weird character to have as part of the X-Men roster. And again, yes, this is a real character in the 616-Universe. His power is that people can’t remember him and that Technology can’t detect him. Unless you have a psychic reminder or technological device that’s built to remind you of him. I don’t know how that last one works but blame Forge’s power and also “Because Comics!”

Anyhow, He’s actually come up clutch (if you accept premise) and I think his story is kind of awesome and tragic at the same time. ForgetMeNot has saved the day but no one can remember him. It’s kind of the ultimate retcon device but a really creative one when you think about it. His first appearance is in X-Men: Legacy #300. Anyhow, go check him out …if you can remember to do it later.
