Wizards Reveals Cards Treatments, Mystical Archive Cards, Special Guests, and More
Wizards of the Coast updated details on Secrets of Strixhaven, a new Magic: The Gathering set, which will hit retail on April 24, 2026.
The new set contains all sorts of goodies for collectors and players. To begin, there will be a serialized card in this set; the Emeritus of Ideation headliner card (see “Reprint Debate“) will come as a full art foil serialized card numbered XXX/500 (only 500 copies printed).
The Mystical Archive returns in this set (see “‘Strixhaven: School of Mages’“). The Archive slot will once again feature desirable Sorcery and Instant reprints, like Force of Will and Vampiric Tutor. And, like last time, there will be Japanese variants of Mystical Archive cards in Collector and Play Boosters.
Special Guest cards also make a return in this set. There are 10 Special Guest cards in this set, all of which depict scenes of lectures at the school. The only Special Guest card revealed, thus far, is Sylvan Library.
As for other cards and card treatments, there will be a cycle of borderless Planeswalker, Elder Dragon, and lands included in the set. The land cycle is a reprint of the land cycle from Innistrad: Crimson Vow (see “‘Innistrad: Crimson Vow’“). There will also be a new cycle of full art basic lands in the set as well as cards with a borderless Field Notes treatment.
