Exciting times for fans of Square Enix’ award-winning Octopath Traveler. The beloved RPG is getting a tabletop version in English in October.
Octopath Traveler is a much-loved JRPG that, if you haven’t played it before, you absolutely should. It’s got it all, an epic journey, a party of different characters who play different roles in a sweeping story that crosses the world of Orsterra. There’s even a sequel, which I haven’t played, but it also seems to be pretty well-respected by its audience.
Soon, though, the world of Orsterra will be yours for the exploring, because Square-Enix and Dark Horse Books are teaming up to bring you an English translation of the already extant Octopath Traveler tabletop RPG.

Octopath Traveler Tabletop RPG Coming October
As you the headling suggests, there’s already an Octopath Traveler RPG out there. Published by Square-Enix in Japan, the RPG lets you assemble a group of adventurers to explore the world of the titular game with nothing but your imagination, an adventurous spirit and 2d6.
I don’t know too much about the system other than it’s a 2d6-based system. The official Dark Horse announcement doesn’t go into too many details – but someone who happens to be bilingual or who is confident enough with an autotranslation system could probably find the original and get an idea of what to expect.

If you aren’t either of those, you won’t have long to wait. Per Dark Horse’s announcement, the book is set for an English release in October:
“Gather a team of adventurers to explore, battle, and build relationships within an engaging, lore-rich setting that takes place in the official Octopath Traveler timeline. Players can create characters with their own unique class and background or play as beloved characters from the games with pre-built, customizable character sheets. They can then embark on canon, pre-written heroic journeys of mystery, action, and adventure—or shape the narrative from the gamemaster’s chair and work together with players to create unique stories through the vast magical world of Octopath Traveler.
Plan your next campaign with the Octopath Traveler TRPG Rulebook when the 328-page (6.75×10”) hardcover arrives in bookstores and comic shops on October 6, 2026, for $59.99″

At 328 pages it’s a chonky book. But that’s honestly what you’d want from a world as richly detailed as Orsterra. Especially if you’re looking to put together a party of adventurers from across its vast reaches.
You can find out more about Octopath Traveler the tabletop RPG from Dark Horse, and look forward to even more details as we get closer to launch.
At last, an RPG for GMs who have eight friends that are all interested in playing the same RPG!
