Avalon Hill will release a new edition of Guillotine, a classic hand management card game, into retail on August 1, 2026.
Guillotine was one of a pair of card games (The Great Dalmuti was the other) originally released back in the late 90s by Wizards of the Coast that were incredibly popular amongst both TCG players and traditional card gamers during that era (see “‘Cool Story Bro’“). In Guillotine, players engage in the head-chopping frenzy of the French Revolution in an attempt to score points by decapitating the most notorious nobles of the era. They will need to manipulate the line on the way to the guillotine by playing action cards to make sure they collect heads that are worth the most. After three days of executions, the player with the highest total wins.
The game box comes with 51 Noble cards, 60 Action cards, a cardboard guillotine, and rules. It is for two to five players, ages 12 and up, and plays in 30 minutes.
