Paizo just released a new playtest class for Starfinder 2E. Come check out the Luminary, a sci-fi superstar powered by Charisma.
Starfinder has a new playtest in the works. The Lumminary – a multi-media superstar taken from the pages of the upcoming Tech Core, which will be about all things gear, gadget, gizmo in the world of Starfinder 2E. And the Luminary shows that Tech isn’t just for nerds. It’s for rockstars who feel like they come straight out of a Macross show.
Starfinder’s Luminary Playtest – Open Now
The Luminary is a new class that’s basically like a Bard but in space. The comparison isn’t a bard one – they are somewhere between a support and a control class with a decidedly theatrical flare to them. They use stagecraft spells, and can shine magical spotlights upon characters, giving them different special effects (aka buffs).
The playtest is a preview of the upcoming Tech Core, due for a later release. But you have a chance to help shape things. Running alongside the new playtest is a survey for feedback which will let players like you help make sure the class turns out right.
“A soldier can defend and a mystic comprehend, but without an audience to attend, isn’t their story a dead-end? The ability to inspire others to follow their example is what elevates an adventurer to a hero. And without a spotlight that can outshine a galaxy of wonder, that motivation to strive for greatness becomes just another sparkle in a sea of stars. The luminary is a multi-media superstar, as capable of producing their own show as they are being the celebrity in the spotlight. They use magical spotlights to overlay characters with special effects as you cast them in different roles. They switch between being a support and control class, supplementing these options with occult stagecraft spells!”
The Luminary Playtest runs from May 11th (that’s today) through July 10th, so you have about two months to really put the new class through its paces. The Luminary is also available on Demiplane, available as a part of the character builder for the run of the playtest.
