The fey of Pathfinder are about to go wild in Pathfinder: Feybound, an upcoming sourcebook about faeries and their many tales.
The Fey are everywhere. Both in real life and mythology and across multiple RPGs. The fact that faerie legends and characters appear across our various RPGs, you know, games played out in the imagination, feels like exactly the kind of thing a bunch of fey tricksters would pull. I mean, they’re in D&D, the World of Darkness, just to name a couple.
And they are littered throughout Golarion. Paizo just unveiled a new sourcebook coming later this year that will be all about exploring the fey and their world. So let’s check out Pathfinder: Feybound.
Pathfinder Feybound – Those Fey Turn Up Everywhere
In Golarion, the Fey live in their own sort of otherworldly realm that exists sideways from reality. Only here, it’s the First World, which you can think of as a sort of rough draft of the universe. Within, there are all sorts of the usual suspects.
Redcaps. Pixies. Gremlins. Even and especially the Queens of the various Fey courts, because they’re always gathering in themed houses. The new book is aimed at both players and GMs with options for both, though I think that players specifically interested in the fey, and of course, GMs in general, are going to get the most out of this one.
“Step through the veil into the grandest party of two worlds. At the Yestereve Revels, every kind of fey from lowly gremlin to towering warrior of the Wild Hunt joins the merrymaking. Speak to a fey queen to receive a boon, sling mud with the grimiest muckdwellers, and savor the taste of a decadent berry pie—even if it means you may never leave. Every delight can be had at the Yestereve Revels!
At the gala and beyond, players and GMs can use creatures, items, archetypes and more inspired by fey and fairy tales. Cast curses, transformations, and memory magic! Be inspired by a trickster muse for bards! Ride a unicorn! Play fey ancestries—fauns, gremlins, nymphs, and sprites—or choose the fadrim versatile heritage to add a bit of fey magic to any character. Explore the world of the fey! Feybound includes a gazetteer of the First World, a first draft of the Universe fey call home, and expanded details on the godlike beings called the Eldest.”
The book isn’t out until much later this year. The official release date is November 4th (subject to the vagaries of real life, of course), which means you can’t even pre-order it yet. But, if you’re so inclined, this might be a time to brush up on your fey lore.
