Games Workshop’s collectible coin for the month of February is an Iron Halo. Plus you can snag a free Tyranid Termagants, too!

I’ve always wanted an Iron Halo. A personal force (aka Conversion) field seems pretty cool. Unfortunately, this version is just a coin. I guess that’s probably closer to the Honor Badge version than personal protection device. Oh well, this one is still nice and you can score one from your local Warhammer store this month.

This month’s coin pays homage to the champions of the Adeptus Astartes with an Iron Halo design, reminiscent of the classic decorative shield generators that adorn the Space Marines’ greatest heroes. While we can’t suggest that it’ll protect against bolt rounds or chainswords, we can at least say it’ll look great among your collection, so ask your local store how you can get yours.

The design is fairly straightforward and it’s not exactly the flashiest. But I like the simplicity. If you want to get one of your own you’ll have to drop into your local story and ask them about it. WarCom doesn’t list the requirements directly but I’m betting a lot of the stores will require some type of purchase limit. I’m pretty sure that’s intentionally vague to get people to come in an ask…it’s almost like a marketing ploy or something.

The free miniature of the month is a Termagant. Now, as a Tyranid player myself, you can always use one more Termagant. Also, the one you receive may vary from the one pictured above. It’s no secret that many of the stores just pop a few boxes and build the miniatures they are giving away. So the odds are that yours will probably be slightly different.

I wonder if they are getting these Termagants from the demo boxes for paint kits or from starter boxes. I guess that doesn’t really matter. It’s also worth noting that it’s limited to one miniature per person. Oh and this is also worth noting: To claim your miniatures in Australia, Europe, New Zealand, and the UK, you will need to assemble them in-store.  That’s a GW thing I guess.

Now, do I want to hit that spending limit to get an Iron Halo (coin)? Tempting…
