The Super Tactical Droid Commanders are here for Star Wars: Legion. We’ve got the in house and built-up! So let’s take a closer look at them.
If you’re playing as the Seperatist Alliance (aka the Droid Army) in Star Wars: Legion then this one is for you! I’ve got the new Super Tactical Droid Commanders thanks to Atomic Mass Games sending me a review copy. I had the chance to pop this box and also build these miniatures. Let’s see what they are packing.
Dual miniatures for a double-dose of droid downloads!
Super Tactical Droid Commanders Unboxed
Kicking things off as we typically do we’ve just got the contents of the goodies in the box. Once again, we’ve got the sprues in one bag, bases in a second bag, and all the cards and tokens in another. Oh and there’s the flyer with a QR code to the download section. Pretty standard stuff from AMG at this point.
As far as the cards go you get a play set for each supported language. Above I used the English cards and then the French cards to show off the back of the respective droids. You get one card for Kraken and one for Kalani. And of course you also get the Command Cards, too.
Side note, I’ve always wondered if the Droid Kalani was named after the game director for the Super Star Wars series on the Super Nintendo. His name is Kalani Streicher. I actually took a game design class from him in the early 2010’s and he was a really great professor. He even signed a copy of the cartridge for me which I thought was really cool.
Anyhow, his name is pretty unique and anytime I see it pop-up in Star Wars I can’t help but to remember Kalani Streicher and the class I took with him. He always had some great stories and better game design advice.
But back to the Super Tactical Droid Commander Sprues!
In the box, you get two copies of the same sprue. Basically, if you had a way to get couple more torsos, you could really build four of these droids with all the bits included. Oh and the feet. You’d want another two sets of those as well.
Well, I did build them and I tried to copy the box art this time around so let’s see the results.
Super Tactical Droid Commanders Up Close
I think they turned out fine. They are droids and have some of the same issues droids have in general. Which is to say they are very spindly. What I did like about them was the fact that basically all the joints are ball and socket. So you can get creative with the arms, torso, and even the head. So you can really have fun with that.
As far as any issue building them I’d say the fact that they bits are pretty small and thin is the “worst” part. But I didn’t think they were too bad to assemble. I do recommend plastic glue for the most part. Superglue is going to show a but more on those ball and socket joints vs plastic glue which should fuse the bits together.
Overall, I think this is a great kit for Droid fans and they add some solid commanders to choose from to the mix as well.
