These boots were not made for walking. They were made for posing. That’s what I’m gathering from the latest Rumor Engine from Games Workshop.

Welcome to another Tuesday Rumor Engine from Games Workshop! Today’s image is an interesting one for a couple of reasons. It looks like a pair of boots. But I’m thinking these were from a statue and not from a person. Because if they were on a person, that poor soul looks to have been cut off from their feet. Take a look for yourself.

Broken statues are rather common in the worlds of Warhammer, because they’re some of the first things that get blown to pieces when invaders come knocking, but you can’t just… not build them. Imagine how drab the 41st Millennium would be without 50-foot tall effigies of Space Marines on every street corner.

Rumor Engine – Boots Not Made For Walking

So, based on the text, we can gather this is a teaser for some sort of statue. That makes sense. Also, the image has this pair of boots on some sort of a platform. It sure looks Imperial as well. That tells me this is likely not from the AoS side of the house. There also appears to be a plaque of some sort. It looks blank and I wonder if this is suppose to be some “faceless” statue of an Imperial Hero or if the name was scrubbed off.

Also, notice the heel on these boots. That makes me wonder who exactly is wearing them. It could be an Imperial Officer. Those boots don’t look armored either. They kind of remind me of something a diplomat like Lucia Vestha might wear.

Then again, it could be a statue of a Saint or something along those lines. Are we about to see another big statue from the Sisters of Battle? Or at least what’s left of one?

They do have armored boots so maybe it’s something else. But I also think that another question should be what is GW teasing a broken statue for. Is this a new terrain piece? Or is this something else like fancy basing for a character or vehicle? And if the later is true, who’s standing over Imperial Ruins? That opens up a lot more possibilities, doesn’t it?

So let us know what you think in the comments! I’m curious to see your theories about this one.

It’s a broken statue of a Space Marine Lieutenant, right?
