Evil Hat has an incredible sale on right now, with more than 50 titles letting you “Pay What You Want” on DriveThruRPG.

Now is your chance to get your hands on some of the breadth and depth of the FATE RPG with more than 50 titles from Evil Hat on sale. And not just like 15% off or some decent enough discount, but actually you get to set the price, even if that price is zero dollars.

Evil Hat’s Pay What You Want Sale – 53 FATES, Basically

At the heart of this sale is the FATE RPG system. Even if you’ve never played it, you have played games influenced by its development. It’s a narrative-driven RPG that lets you describe characters with different tags known as ‘Aspects’. You write out descriptors like “knows how to party” or “beefy” and then, as the min/maxing player in me goes, you spend the rest of the game trying to convince your GM that “knowing how to party” totally applies in this firefight you find yourself in.

You’ve probably seen some variant of that in systems like Modiphius’ 2d20 or in Critical Role’s Daggerheart. And that’s without going into FATE’s influence on indie-er RPGs like Apocalypse World and its ilk. All that to say there’s a good reason to check out the system.

And check it out you can, in spades. Evil Hat currently has a ton of titles up for the incredible price of whatever you feel like. Even if that amount is zero dollars, as spelled out in a Bluesky post:

“Spent the past month whipping the capitalism machine, so let’s give back a little. We have 53 Pay What You Want titles on DriveThruRPG: every genre, original settings, and inspired mashups. And if you can only afford zero dollars, please: pay zero dollars.”

This means you can get the latest version of FATE. Or pick up the streamlined version if you want a faster, looser thing. But the real meat and potatoes – for me at least, is in the variety of setting books. From Gods & Monsters, with its mythic systems and storytelling approach, to Masters of Umdaar and its He-Man/Thundercats/etc. inspired setting of swords and lasers.

Check out the sale while it lasts. You don’t find a deal like this that often!

One might even say this sale is fated!
