Path to Menzoberranzan is one of the more hotly anticipated of the Baldur’s Gate 3 custom campaign mods, and they want your specialest guys.
It’s 2026. Everyone has an OC by now. Whether you’re Blorbopilled, Glup Shitto-coded, or Ebony-Dark’ness-Dementia-Raven-Waymaxxing, people love their special little creations. And even if you don’t think you have one, you do. You’re one internet quiz away from knowing exactly who they are and who you ship them with at any given time. There’s no escaping it.
The internet was a mistake. And everyone having an OC is one of the more egregious (but weirdly benign) side effects thereof. Fortunately, the team behind the much-anticipated Path to Menzoberranzan, a custom campaign mod currently in development for Baldur’s Gate 3, understands that sometimes there’s a use for someone’s OC.
Path to Menzoberranzan’s Design-An-NPC Giveaway
First of all, if you’re unfamiliar with Path to Menzoberranzan, it is a massive custom campaign mod for Baldur’s Gate 3. For Drow enthusiasts especially, this mod will be a fully-voiced campaign mod, complete with multiple acts, including a tutorial that is around the size of the BG3 Nautiloid. It’s ambitious, but with a community gathering behind it, there’s a lot of momentum.
And you can be a part of that momentum, if you’re a part of that community. Right now, to celebrate getting the level design mapped out for the tutorial, and getting the environment in working order, the designers have put out the call for your custom NPC.
In an announcement made on the team’s Discord server, they offered lucky community members a chance to design one of three custom NPCs. With some guidance and guidelines and limits, you know, for obvious reasons. But here’s the announcement via Discord:
“In the spirit of Waukeentide’s gift giving traditions, we will be giving away our remaining 3 custom NPC spots! […] In this season of possibility, now is your chance to leave your mark on our mod and our game’s living world!”
Of course there are limits. Design here means you get to decide their visuals, either by description for the team to work up, or using more direct assets from Baldur’s Gate 3 official, which can include things like “Body type 2” and specifying gender or outfit. And it means that you get to pick a name for the NPC. As for voice and personality and so forth, that’s being left to the designers of course.
But with the winning NPCs placed in the world and the story? You never know where your own personal OC might show up.
See you in Menzoberranzan!
